Arab Police Day: Appreciation for security efforts and a boost to stability

Arab Police Day on December 18th each year , an occasion that transcends mere protocol, becoming an annual opportunity to renew pledges of loyalty and express gratitude to the men and women who bear the responsibility of protecting lives and property. This day commemorates the first conference of Arab police and security leaders, held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, in 1972, which marked a true turning point in strengthening joint Arab security efforts under the umbrella of the League of Arab States.
The importance of security in the stability of nations
Economic and social development and prosperity cannot be discussed in isolation from security and stability. The police officer is the cornerstone of ensuring the rule of law and combating crime in all its forms. The concept of policing has evolved in recent decades, moving from mere law enforcement to the concept of "community policing," where the police officer has become an active partner in development and an integral part of the social fabric, thus enhancing public safety and creating an attractive environment for investment and a decent standard of living.

Citizen Ahmed Raed Baba believes that society's perception of police officers has undergone a remarkable evolution toward greater maturity and awareness, as they are now seen as essential partners in the social fabric, not merely instruments of accountability. Baba points out that the mere sight of a police officer in the field sends an immediate message of reassurance, emphasizing that their presence reflects the vigilance of the system and its commitment to the safety of all.

In a message addressed to the protectors of the homeland, Baba stressed that the sacrifices they make cannot be summed up in words, calling for strengthening moral and psychological support for them through community and media initiatives to consolidate a culture of mutual respect.

For his part, Sahl Farsi highlighted the humanitarian aspect of police work, noting that security personnel are now present in all aspects of daily life, from events and celebrations to emergency situations. Farsi explained that feelings of respect and appreciation are the first things that come to mind when he sees security personnel, given that they have chosen a profession that requires constant sacrifice of time and personal comfort.
