The Royal Commission for Makkah and the Holy Sites announced the completion of preparations for the designated entry points for pilgrims during the 1447 AH Hajj season. This step is part of a comprehensive operational system aimed at enhancing the efficiency of services provided to pilgrims and enriching their spiritual experience from the moment they arrive at the boundaries of the Holy Mosque. Preparations included aligning operational plans with all participating government and service agencies and equipping field sites to ensure smooth traffic flow and rapid response.
The historical and geographical dimension of Hajj and Umrah timings
The geographically defined Miqat points, established by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), represent essential points of entry into the state of Ihram, which pilgrims performing Hajj or Umrah must not cross without entering Ihram. These Miqats are located at the entrances to Mecca, welcoming pilgrims from all corners of the earth. Among the most prominent of these Miqats are Dhul-Hulayfah for the people of Medina, As-Sayl Al-Kabir (Qarn Al-Manazil) for the people of Najd, Yalamlam for the people of Yemen, Al-Juhfah for the people of Syria, and Dhat Irq for the people of Iraq. Throughout history, these sites have received significant attention from Muslim caliphs and rulers, culminating in the prosperous Saudi era, which has witnessed unprecedented developmental leaps in expanding these Miqats and equipping them with the latest service facilities to accommodate the millions of pilgrims who increase annually.
Quality development projects to enhance the readiness of the Hajj sites to receive pilgrims
The CEO of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites, Engineer Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Rasheed, explained that this step was the result of early planning and close coordination with relevant authorities. He affirmed that the Commission has dedicated all its human and operational resources to enhancing infrastructure efficiency and developing facilities to ensure the smooth and peaceful performance of the rituals.
The capacity of the prayer areas at the Miqat sites this season exceeded 6,600 male worshippers and approximately 3,200 female worshippers, with thousands of parking spaces provided for vehicles and buses. Development projects included the rehabilitation of water fountains at the Wadi Mahram Miqat and the activation of a central heating system for 900 restrooms at the Al-Sayl Al-Kabir Miqat. More than 230 surveillance cameras were installed to enhance security, directional signs and seasonal kiosks were erected, and staff were reinforced to provide water services according to the highest international standards.

The ongoing development of the holy sites and rituals has dimensions and impacts that extend beyond the local level to the regional and international levels. Locally, this organization contributes to achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to host millions of Umrah and Hajj pilgrims annually by providing exceptional quality services.
