Traffic authorities announce 5 new driving schools in the Kingdom: Details and requirements

The General Directorate of Traffic in Saudi Arabia announced a new strategic initiative aimed at enhancing traffic safety and developing training services. This initiative offers investment opportunities to the private sector to establish and operate five new model driving schools. This step comes in response to the increasing demand for driver's licenses and aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to improve the quality of life and enhance the efficiency of services provided to citizens and residents.

A well-planned geographical distribution to meet the needs

According to the official announcement, the locations of the new schools were carefully selected to ensure equitable geographical distribution and coverage of population density. The list includes the capital, Riyadh and the Dammam area, both experiencing rapid population and urban growth that necessitates increased capacity at training centers. The plan also extends to outlying governorates and developing cities, with schools to be established in Al- Bayda , Al -Khafji , and Al-Khurmah , making it easier for residents of these areas to access services without having to travel long distances.

Strengthening partnership with the private sector

The General Directorate of Traffic called on investors and companies specializing in this field to begin submitting their applications starting from Sunday, November 30, 2025. The Directorate explained that the application is done through official communication via the email address designated for the Licensing Department, in order to obtain the terms and technical specifications booklet that ensures the establishment of schools according to the highest international standards in training and safety.

A specific timeframe has been set for submitting bids, extending for only one month from the date of the announcement, reflecting the seriousness of the concerned parties in accelerating the pace of work and completing these vital projects as soon as possible.

Development context and importance of the initiative

This initiative is particularly important given the significant transformations the Kingdom has witnessed in recent years, especially following the historic decision to allow women to drive, which led to a substantial increase in the number of people seeking driver's licenses. Since then, relevant authorities have been working to expand the infrastructure of driving schools to reduce waiting lists and offer advanced training programs focused on defensive driving and public safety.

The entry into service of these five new schools is expected to contribute to a qualitative leap in the level of services, not only by reducing waiting times, but also by creating new job opportunities for national cadres of trainers, male and female trainers and administrators, which enhances the role of the private sector as a key partner in economic and social development.

These ongoing steps confirm the keenness of the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, to remove all obstacles for beneficiaries, and to ensure that every applicant receives high-quality training that qualifies him to drive safely on the Kingdom’s roads, which will positively affect traffic safety indicators and reduce accidents.
