Riyadh Art adorns the capital with 14 sculptures from Tuwaiq Sculpture

In a move reflecting the rapid development of the cultural and urban landscape in Saudi Arabia, the Riyadh Art the installation of 14 distinctive sculptures, carefully selected from the works of the Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium, to adorn several key locations in the capital city of Riyadh. This initiative is part of the program's strategy to transform the city into an open-air art gallery that blends tradition and modernity.
Strategic locations that foster creativity
The current phase includes the placement of artworks in prominent locations such as Roshan Waterfront, Roshan's Sidra Community, and the Sports Track. This initiative aims to enhance the presence of art in public spaces and integrate creative works into the city's urban fabric. The program also revealed future plans to announce additional locations that will house further permanent art installations.
Cultural context and national vision
The Riyadh Art Program is one of four major projects launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, at the initiative of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The project primarily aims to enhance the quality of life in the capital, in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, by integrating art and creativity into the daily lives of residents and visitors, and boosting the city's cultural and tourism economy.
Philosophy of Place and Artwork
Commenting on the event, Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Hazani, Executive Vice President of the Lifestyle Sector at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, explained that the selection of these locations was not arbitrary, but rather embodies Riyadh Art's vision of integrating beauty and intellectualism into public spaces. He emphasized that this initiative reflects the strategic direction of making art a central element of Riyadh's identity and a fundamental pillar for elevating public taste.
Al-Hazani pointed out that the three selected sites are characterized by their vitality and direct connection to the movement of society, which facilitates the public's interaction with the sculptures:
- Roshan Facade: It embraces 7 sculptures that emulate the values of urban transformation and the spirit of the community, creating a scene that invites contemplation.
- Sidra Community: It welcomed 3 sculptures that harmonize with its quiet residential character and environmentally friendly planning.
- The sports track includes 4 sculptures that focus on the concepts of balance, health and nature, to complement the function of the track as a sports and recreational destination.
