Riyadh: Five shops closed for violating regulations regarding the sale of military clothing

As part of ongoing efforts to regulate markets and enhance preventive security, the security committee monitoring shops selling and tailoring military clothing in the Riyadh region carried out a large-scale inspection campaign, which resulted in the confiscation of quantities of non-compliant military ranks and emblems, in addition to closing five commercial shops that did not adhere to the regulations and bylaws governing this sensitive activity.
Campaign details and official guidelines
These field operations are being carried out in accordance with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, and with the direct follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Region. These directives aim to emphasize the strict enforcement of regulations and ensure that military supplies are not traded outside of authorized legal channels, given the significant security and organizational implications of such actions.
Security and organizational dimensions of regulating military clothing
These campaigns are of paramount importance, extending far beyond mere commercial violations; regulating the sale and tailoring of military uniforms is a cornerstone of maintaining public security. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia enforces strict measures regarding the circulation of military ranks and insignia to prevent their falling into the wrong hands, thereby thwarting any attempts to impersonate security personnel or use these uniforms for illicit purposes that could threaten the safety and stability of society.
The relevant authorities are working to ensure that shops operating in this sector have the necessary licenses and adhere to accurate records of purchases from military personnel, to ensure that these national symbols remain free from tampering or exploitation.
Integration of government efforts
The campaign reflected a high level of coordination among various government sectors, with representatives from the Ministry of the National Guard, the Ministry of Commerce, the Presidency of State Security, the Riyadh Police, the Riyadh Passport Office, the Riyadh Municipality, and the Riyadh Labor Office participating in the inspection tour. This governmental collaboration ensures comprehensive oversight, from the legality of labor and business licenses to the precise security aspects related to the seized materials.
The security committee affirmed its determination to continue these inspection tours on a regular and surprise basis, stressing that it will not hesitate to take deterrent regulatory measures against any establishment proven to be involved in violating the regulations for selling and tailoring military clothing, calling on everyone to fully comply with the instructions issued in this regard.
