Distance learning will be implemented in Riyadh on Tuesday due to rain

The Riyadh Education Department has officially announced that in-person classes will be switched to distance learning for tomorrow, Tuesday, 25 Jumada al-Thani 1447 AH. This decision comes in response to reports from the National Center for Meteorology and in the interest of the safety of students, teachers, and administrative staff due to the current rainy weather conditions in the region.

Details of the decision to suspend in-person classes

The administration clarified that classes will continue regularly through the Madrasati platform and other approved educational platforms for all students, as well as school staff. This decision includes the city of Riyadh and a large number of its affiliated governorates, namely: Diriyah, Al-Kharj, Al-Dilam, Al-Hariq, Hawtat Bani Tamim, Thadiq, Huraymila, Al-Muzahmiya, Rumah, and Dhurma.

Digital infrastructure and the continuity of the educational process

This measure is a practical application of the significant digital transformation that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has witnessed in the education sector. The technological infrastructure, represented by the “My School Platform,” has proven its high efficiency in ensuring the continuity of the educational process without interruption under various circumstances. Distance learning is no longer merely an alternative option during health crises, but has become a flexible strategic tool that guarantees the continuity of students’ academic achievement during weather fluctuations. This reflects the success of the Ministry’s plans to integrate technology into education in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Civil Defense warnings and weather conditions

In a related context, the General Directorate of Civil Defense reiterated its warnings to citizens and residents to exercise caution and remain in safe locations during rainfall. The Directorate emphasized the importance of staying away from areas prone to flash floods, valleys, and waterlogged areas, and of not attempting to cross valleys regardless of the water level.

The National Center for Meteorology forecasts indicate continued chances of thunderstorms accompanied by active winds in parts of the Riyadh, Eastern and Qassim regions, which calls for full compliance with the instructions announced through official media and social media sites to ensure the safety of lives and property until the end of the expected weather condition next Thursday.
