Distance learning in the northern border region due to the weather

Educational and training institutions in the Northern Borders region, represented by the General Directorate of Technical and Vocational Training and the Northern Borders University, announced the shift to distance learning for Tuesday in the cities of Arar and Rafha. This decision comes in response to reports from the National Center for Meteorology and as a precaution to ensure the safety of lives and property amidst the current weather fluctuations in the region.
Technical training: Continuing the training process digitally
The General Directorate of Technical and Vocational Training in the Northern Borders region confirmed that the decision includes all male and female trainees, as well as staff at training facilities in Arar and Rafha. The Directorate explained that the shift to online training via approved platforms is a necessary precautionary measure to ensure the continuity of the training process while maintaining the highest safety standards for everyone, in line with weather alerts.
Northern Border University: Activating educational platforms
For its part, the Northern Border University issued a similar statement announcing the shift to distance learning at its main campus in Arar and its branch in Rafha. This decision encompasses all colleges and deanships, with lectures to be delivered via the university's online platforms (such as Blackboard) to ensure the continuity of the academic plan and to protect students and faculty from the risks of commuting during the unstable weather conditions.
Digital infrastructure in the Kingdom: Resilience in the face of crises
This smooth and rapid shift towards distance learning and training is clear evidence of the success of Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation strategies. The Kingdom has invested heavily in the digital infrastructure of the education sector, enabling educational institutions to respond with remarkable flexibility to emergencies. Saudi educational platforms are now considered a regional model, ensuring the continuity of education under various circumstances, whether health-related or climatic, reflecting the high level of preparedness of national institutions.
Institutional cooperation and the priority of public safety
Educational institutions in the Kingdom adhere to strict protocols that prioritize human safety, in direct and continuous coordination with the National Center of Meteorology and the General Directorate of Civil Defense. The Northern Borders region, due to its geographical location, is prone to dust storms, rain, and low temperatures, necessitating constant vigilance and proactive decision-making. This integration between meteorological and operational authorities effectively contributes to reducing traffic accidents and weather-related hazards, while maintaining the academic progress of students and trainees.
