A comprehensive municipal plan to receive pilgrims in Muzdalifah this season

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the Holy Capital Municipality, announced its full operational readiness to receive pilgrims in Muzdalifah after their blessed departure from Arafat. This step is part of a comprehensive service and field system aimed at facilitating the movement of pilgrims and ensuring their comfort, through intensified environmental sanitation efforts, crowd management, and the preparation of all public facilities and pedestrian walkways to guarantee smooth traffic flow and provide comfort and safety for the guests of God.
The historical and organizational dimensions of the process of receiving pilgrims in Muzdalifah
Muzdalifah is a pivotal spiritual station in the Hajj pilgrimage. Pilgrims head there after sunset on the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah (the Day of Arafah) to spend the night and collect pebbles for the stoning of the Jamarat in Mina. Historically, this journey has witnessed tremendous evolution from simple, traditional transportation to the management of millions of people using the latest technologies and logistical plans. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia works annually to develop the infrastructure of the holy sites, drawing on a long legacy of accumulated experience in managing the world's largest human gatherings. This ensures that the movement of pilgrims and the departure from Muzdalifah is carried out with high efficiency and complete safety, despite the millions of people flowing in at once.
A fully integrated operational system and field personnel available around the clock
The Ministry explained that field teams began comprehensive preparations in Muzdalifah well in advance. These preparations include intensifying public cleaning efforts, equipping restrooms and service facilities, and maintaining lighting and stormwater drainage networks. To achieve these goals, the area has been supported by more than 13,000 specialized field personnel working in Mecca and the Holy Sites, backed by thousands of modern vehicles and equipment to ensure a rapid response to any emergencies and immediate waste management to guarantee sustainable environmental sanitation.
The regional and international impact of Saudi efforts in organizing the Hajj
The significance of these extensive preparations extends beyond the local level, impacting both regionally and internationally. The Kingdom's success in managing the Hajj season and ensuring the safety of millions of pilgrims from diverse nationalities reflects its leadership and exceptional organizational capabilities, reinforcing its position as the Qibla for Muslims and a global hub for crowd management. These efforts also contribute to setting an international benchmark in public health, environmental sustainability, and advanced logistics, sending a reassuring message to pilgrims' families worldwide about the safety and comfort of their loved ones during the pilgrimage.
Maximum readiness of emergency and waste management teams
The Holy Capital Municipality affirmed the complete readiness of its emergency and field maintenance teams, in addition to its disease vector and public health pest control teams, to ensure a healthy, epidemic-free environment. The waste management plan in Muzdalifah relies on activating compactors and underground storage facilities throughout the area, facilitating the safe and rapid disposal of waste. It is worth noting that the Ministry took similar steps to prepare Mina immediately after the pilgrims departed for Arafat, ensuring its full readiness to receive them again after their departure from Muzdalifah. This underscores the integrated and coordinated nature of the operational plans for serving the pilgrims.
