8 cases of suspension of the enhanced social security pension: Learn about them

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia has emphasized the importance of beneficiaries of the enhanced social security program adhering to the specified terms and conditions to ensure the continued disbursement of financial support. This comes as part of the Ministry's commitment to ensuring that zakat and support funds reach their intended beneficiaries, achieving social justice, and directing resources to those most in need.

Cases of suspension of social security pension payments

The ministry explained that there are 8 specific cases that directly lead to the suspension of pension payments to the beneficiary, and everyone should pay attention to them to avoid interruption of support. They are as follows:

  • Disruption of eligibility requirements: If the beneficiary loses any of the basic eligibility requirements (such as exceeding the income threshold).
  • Incorrect data: If the ministry determines that the data submitted about the independent person or the family is incorrect or forged.
  • Data update delay: If the ministry requests the updating of specific data and the beneficiary delays doing so for more than 30 days from the date of notification.
  • Failure to comply with the rehabilitation plan: If the beneficiary is eligible for rehabilitation (capable of working) and does not comply with the plan set for him.
  • Lack of seriousness in job searching: If it is proven that the beneficiary who is able to work is not looking for a job, or has not applied to approved platforms (such as Taqat), or has refused suitable job and training offers.
  • Residence in care centers: If the beneficiary is permanently residing in one of the government care or treatment centers.
  • Waiver: If the beneficiary voluntarily waives the pension.
  • Death: The death of the beneficiary terminates his right to the pension, with the possibility of the entitlement being transferred to the heirs if the conditions apply to them as independent individuals or a family.

Context and objectives of the social protection system

The enhanced social security system represents a qualitative leap in the Kingdom's social protection framework. Its role extends beyond simply providing cash assistance; it aims to empower beneficiaries and transform them from individuals in need into productive members of society. Social security resources rely primarily on Zakat funds, in addition to government subsidies and donations, to ensure the needs of the targeted groups are met.

Entitlement journey and payment dates

The beneficiary's journey goes through several meticulous stages to ensure transparency:

  1. Registration and enumeration: Applications are submitted through the Social Support and Protection Platform, and eligibility is reviewed monthly based on data received from relevant government agencies.
  2. Eligibility announcement: Beneficiaries are notified of the eligibility result (eligible or ineligible) well in advance of the disbursement date (usually the 27th of each calendar month).
  3. Disbursement: Pensions are deposited into the beneficiaries' bank accounts on the first day of each calendar month, unless it falls on an official holiday.

Digital transformation and facilitating services

In line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the Ministry developed the Social Security application to align with digital government standards, making it easier for beneficiaries to track their applications, update their data, and submit appeals and complaints. This transformation aims to improve the user experience and reduce the need to visit branches, thereby enhancing service efficiency and response times.
