Messengers of Peace Scouts: 750 volunteers to serve visitors to the Two Holy Mosques during Ramadan

Organized youth efforts to serve millions of visitors

With the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, the eyes of millions of Muslims around the world turn towards the Two Holy Mosques in Mecca and Medina. At the heart of this spiritual atmosphere stands the role of more than 750 young men and women from the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association, who have dedicated their energies in public service camps to serving the pilgrims, embodying the highest ideals of giving and devotion.

These volunteers, known as “Messengers of Peace,” come as a vital human resource supporting the security and service sectors, and provide a practical model of discipline and responsibility in facilitating the journey of pilgrims and visitors, and ensuring that they perform their rituals in an atmosphere of tranquility and peace.

Historical background: A long-standing legacy of serving the Two Holy Mosques

Serving the pilgrims is not a recent phenomenon, but rather a deeply rooted historical and cultural legacy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The participation of scouts in the Hajj and Umrah seasons is a long-standing tradition spanning decades, with their roles evolving from simple assistance to involvement in complex organizational processes. These ongoing efforts reflect the Kingdom's commitment, both leadership and people, to providing the utmost comfort and safety for the millions who flock to the holy sites annually—a great honor and responsibility undertaken by all sectors of the state.

Strategic integration to support the security and service system

This year, the role of the scouts transcended the traditional concept of volunteering, becoming central to the meticulous organizational operations. Their field tasks focused on supporting the Special Forces for Hajj and Umrah Security and assisting security patrols deployed in the central area. These efforts were integrated with the plans of the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, through their active contribution to organizing the flow of visitors and providing real-time on-site guidance, which positively impacted the smooth flow of movement and prevented overcrowding on busy pedestrian routes.

These young cadres were distributed according to a precise operational plan, as more than 400 male and female participants began their duties in the holy capital, while more than 350 others took on the honor of serving in Medina, so that everyone would work as one team in the fields of honor.

The “Messengers of Peace” initiative and its impact on achieving Vision 2030

These field efforts are inseparable from broader strategic objectives. The scout camps align with the “Messengers of Peace” initiative, a global scouting program that aims to cultivate young leaders and promote a culture of peace and active citizenship. This initiative directly intersects with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which places great importance on the volunteer sector as a pillar of community development and aims to reach one million volunteers by 2030.

The participation of broad national sectors, including the Ministry of Education, Saudi universities, the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training, and the Ministries of Human Resources and Sports, confirms that this movement is the product of national integration aimed at empowering young people and involving them in serving their country and its guests, and presenting an honorable image of the Kingdom on the international stage.
