Intensive efforts to contain the rain situation in the Prophet's Mosque

Madinah recently experienced blessed rainfall, and in response, the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque intensified its field operations to address the rainy conditions at the Prophet's Mosque. The Authority mobilized its full human and logistical resources, in accordance with pre-established emergency plans, to ensure the continued provision of services at the highest quality and to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all visitors and worshippers at the Holy Mosque.
History of the care of the Two Holy Mosques and the development of their infrastructure
The swift response to the weather fluctuations was not a spur-of-the-moment decision, but rather an extension of the long history of meticulous care that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has dedicated to the Two Holy Mosques. Over the decades, the Prophet's Mosque has witnessed massive expansion and development projects, including the establishment of a sophisticated infrastructure capable of handling various climatic conditions. Among the most prominent of these projects are the giant canopies in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque, specifically designed to protect worshippers from direct sunlight and rainwater. The courtyards and facilities have also been equipped with advanced stormwater drainage networks, ensuring that water does not accumulate and facilitating the safe movement of crowds, reflecting a proactive vision in crisis management and providing the utmost comfort.
Strategies for dealing with rainy conditions in the Prophet's Mosque
With the onset of rainfall, field teams swiftly implemented their operational plans to the situation at the Prophet's Mosque . These measures included removing carpets from exposed areas and outer courtyards to protect them from damage, and immediately commencing rainwater drainage operations using state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, with the participation of thousands of trained workers. In addition, efforts were intensified to organize the pathways in the courtyards to prevent overcrowding and slipping, and hand umbrellas were distributed to visitors and worshippers to ensure their safety. This comprehensive system of services primarily aims to enable pilgrims to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility, without the weather posing any obstacle.
The positive impact of field services locally and internationally
The profound importance of these efforts extends beyond local boundaries, leaving a wide-ranging positive impact at both the regional and international levels. Locally, these measures contribute to maintaining the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors to Medina, and ensure the smooth flow of traffic and organization around the Holy Mosque. Internationally, the scenes of meticulous care and rapid response broadcast via satellite channels and social media send reassuring messages to millions of Muslims worldwide, affirming the Kingdom's capability and constant readiness to serve the pilgrims in all circumstances. This unwavering commitment aligns with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to enrich the religious and cultural experience of pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors, and to present a global model to be emulated in managing crowds and large facilities.
This tireless work comes as part of the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque's commitment to continuously improving the level of services provided. The combined efforts of the various stakeholders truly reflect the aspirations of the wise leadership – may God protect them – to dedicate all resources and overcome all obstacles, ensuring that the Prophet's Mosque remains an oasis of security, peace, and tranquility for all who visit it from around the world.
