Latest developments in pilgrim accommodation in Mina: Rabia Kadana project

The Rabia Kadana project represents a qualitative and innovative addition to the pilgrim accommodation system in Mina. This massive project comes in response to the directives of the wise leadership to enhance the quality of services provided to the pilgrims. Through the development of a modern, two-story model, the project aims to improve the quality of the living environment, thereby maximizing the efficient use of limited space within the holy sites.
This pioneering project was implemented by Kadana Development and Investment Company, the executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and Ithraa Hospitality Holding Company. This collaboration aims to create a sophisticated residential environment that adheres to the highest standards of privacy and comfort for pilgrims.
The historical development of services for pilgrims in the holy sites
Historically, the Holy Sites have undergone numerous phases of urban and service development. In past decades, efforts focused on providing traditional tents. Then, in the late 1990s, the Kingdom transitioned to a project utilizing advanced, fire-resistant tents, marking a significant milestone in the history of Hajj. Today, the move towards vertical construction and the use of modern building technologies represents a new historical step that keeps pace with the demands of the times. This shift to modern, multi-story buildings reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment, since its founding, to dedicating all its material and human resources to serving the Two Holy Mosques and overcoming any obstacles that might hinder the millions of pilgrims during the performance of the rituals.
Details of the Rabia Kadana project and its operational phases
The project effectively supports operational readiness during the Hajj season, comprising eight modern, two-story buildings spanning a total area exceeding 33,000 square meters. The first phase of the project saw the completion of three buildings, enabling the operation of 37% of its capacity during the 1446 AH Hajj season. Work continues at an accelerated pace to complete the second phase, allowing for full utilization of the project's capacity during the 1447 AH Hajj season, ensuring it is ready to welcome pilgrims in the best possible condition.
Regional and international impact of pilgrim housing projects in Mina
The impact of developing pilgrim accommodation in Mina extends far beyond the local level, encompassing significant regional and international dimensions. Internationally, this project reinforces Saudi Arabia's position as a global leader in crowd management and the organization of massive events with the highest levels of efficiency and safety. Furthermore, providing a comfortable and secure living environment positively impacts the experience of millions of Muslims from around the world, leaving a lasting positive impression upon their return home.
Locally, the project contributes to streamlining the movement of pilgrims and ensuring their safe and organized ascent to Mecca in accordance with the highest international safety standards. Furthermore, it supports the infrastructure of the Holy Sites through modern and sustainable urban development solutions that keep pace with the increasing number of pilgrims targeted by Saudi Vision 2030. This project is an extension of Kadana Company's efforts in developing housing projects, contributing to improved service efficiency, achieving the objectives of the Quality of Life Program, and ensuring environmental and urban sustainability in the holiest places on earth.
