Winter school hours in Madinah for the second semester

The General Directorate of Education in Madinah announced today the implementation of winter school hours in all public schools for boys and girls in the region, coinciding with the return of students to their classrooms and the start of the second semester of the academic year 1447 AH. This measure comes as part of the commitment to providing a suitable learning environment for students and adapting the school day to the changing time and weather conditions.

Details of attendance and departure times

In detailing the administrative decision, the Medina Education Department clarified the new school day schedule, specifying precise times for assembly and the start of classes to ensure the smooth running of the educational process:

  • Girls' schools: The morning assembly begins at 7:15 AM, with the first class actually starting at 7:30 AM.
  • Boys' schools: It has been decided that the morning assembly will be at 7:30 AM, with the first class starting at 7:45 AM.

Taking into account weather and environmental variables

The switch to winter time is an annual procedure followed by the Ministry of Education and its departments across the Kingdom, in response to the changes in sunrise and sunset times during winter, as well as the drop in temperatures during the early morning hours. This measure aims to protect the health and safety of students, preventing them from going out during the coldest or darkest times, thus contributing to their mental and physical well-being upon arrival at school.

The importance of discipline at the start of the second semester

The Madinah Education Department emphasized that implementing winter school hours is a fundamental part of organizing the school day, stressing the need for school administrations to adhere to the approved schedules. This step is particularly important as it coincides with the start of the second semester, where a serious and disciplined beginning is essential for achieving academic excellence. Adherence to the new schedule will contribute to reducing morning lateness and ensuring the full utilization of class time.

The role of the family in supporting academic achievement

In a related matter, the administration urged parents to cooperate with schools by adjusting their children's sleep schedules to align with winter time, ensuring they wake up early, refreshed, and energetic. The complementary role of family and school is crucial to the success of the educational process, as regulating time at home helps students adapt quickly to the new school schedule, positively impacting their academic performance and knowledge acquisition during the new term.
