Al-Ulya Village Municipality Projects: A developmental leap to improve roads and parks

The municipality of Qaryat Al-Ulya in the Eastern Province continues its tireless efforts to drive sustainable development and improve the quality of life for citizens and residents. The first quarter of this year witnessed a significant leap forward in the implementation of the municipality's service and development projects. These projects align with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to develop infrastructure and enhance the urban landscape across the Kingdom's cities and governorates, contributing to a vibrant and sustainable environment that supports the well-being of the local community and keeps pace with the rapid urban development in the Eastern Province.

The impact of Al-Ulya Village Municipality projects on infrastructure and facilitating traffic flow

The mayor of Qaryat Al-Ulya Governorate, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, explained that the municipality successfully completed the project to dualize the eastern entrance road to the governorate, a stretch exceeding 3 kilometers in length and covering a total area of ​​53,940 square meters. The project not only involved paving but also included enhancing traffic safety standards through the application of road markings covering an area of ​​2,500 square meters, the installation of 63 double-arm lighting poles, and the placement of safety, directional, and warning signs to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce accidents.

In a related development, the municipality completed road improvement works in Al-Zuhur neighborhoods (A, B, and C), covering an area of ​​84,500 square meters, along with the installation of 3,590 square meters of traffic markings. Additionally, the paving of Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Street, covering 9,500 square meters, was completed. This represents a significant step towards connecting the governorate's neighborhoods with a modern and safe road network, facilitating residents' movement and supporting local commercial and economic activity.

Humanizing cities and increasing green spaces in the governorate

The Eastern Province Municipality, represented by the Qaryat Al-Ulya Municipality, places great importance on "humanizing cities" projects and increasing green spaces due to their direct impact on the public and psychological health of residents. In this context, "Al-Waha Park" was established, covering a total area of ​​11,200 square meters. It includes 6,400 square meters of green spaces, the planting of 260 trees and 879 flowers, a football field, a children's play area, and a comprehensive walking track that encourages sports and physical activity. The municipality is also continuing its development of "Bahjat Al-Riyadh Park," planting more than 14,754 trees and flowers throughout the governorate.

The development work extended to include public squares that reflect the visual identity of the governorate, as work was carried out to develop the Eastern Najd Gate Square, Atrah Square, and Al-Nabaj Square, while work continues on developing Al-Qamh Square, which adds a distinctive aesthetic and civilized touch to the main intersections and entrances.

Health oversight and community partnership for a sustainable environment

The municipality's efforts were not limited to construction and aesthetics; they also focused on improving the urban landscape and combating visual pollution. This included removing 1,945 cubic meters of rubble and debris, addressing graffiti on 62 square meters, and removing four illegal billboards. In the area of ​​environmental health, inspection teams conducted 669 inspection tours, resulting in the detection of 139 violations. Additionally, 12 awareness campaigns were launched to raise health awareness among businesses and consumers.

To reinforce the values ​​of giving and citizenship, the governorate witnessed the implementation of two community initiatives with the participation of 80 volunteers who contributed 40 volunteer hours to support the municipality's efforts in improving the local environment. Dr. Al-Ghamdi concluded by emphasizing that these achievements are part of the municipality's commitment to providing the best services and achieving sustainable development goals, thus fulfilling the aspirations of the wise leadership and ensuring the satisfaction of beneficiaries.
