The Attorney General assumes his duties and emphasizes strengthening justice and governance

In a move reflecting the wise leadership’s keenness to strengthen the justice system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency the Attorney General, Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Yousef, received, at the Public Prosecution headquarters in Riyadh, Their Excellencies the members of the Public Prosecution Council, senior leaders and staff, on the occasion of his taking up his duties as Attorney General, in a meeting characterized by a high spirit of national responsibility.

Thanks and gratitude to the wise leadership

His Excellency Dr. Khalid Al-Yousef began the meeting by expressing his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them – for the royal trust bestowed upon him by appointing him Attorney General. His Excellency affirmed that this appointment is both an honor and a great responsibility, requiring him to exert every effort to serve his religion, his King, and his country. He commended the unlimited support that the judiciary, and the Public Prosecution in particular, receive from the leadership, which has enabled it to achieve significant advancements in its operational and investigative mechanisms.

The Attorney General's assumption of his duties comes at a time when the Kingdom is witnessing a comprehensive development drive in line with Vision 2030, where the Public Prosecution plays a pivotal role in protecting rights and promoting transparency. The Public Prosecution is an independent judicial body responsible for investigating and prosecuting crimes, and for representing the public before the courts, making it the cornerstone of the application of criminal justice. This body has witnessed remarkable development in recent years, both in terms of administrative and financial independence and in terms of digital transformation, which has expedited litigation procedures and safeguarded rights.

Enhancing governance and institutional excellence

During the meeting, His Excellency the Attorney General stressed the need to operate according to the highest standards of quality and reliability, emphasizing that the next phase requires integrated efforts to consolidate the elements of governance and professional commitment. He pointed to the importance of investing in national legal expertise and improving prosecutorial outputs to ensure the integrity of procedures and the accuracy of judgments.
