More than 10,000 Zamzam water containers were provided in the Prophet's Mosque

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to provide the highest quality services to pilgrims, as evidenced by the General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques' commitment to ensuring the availability of Zamzam water at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina at the highest standards. These ongoing efforts aim to guarantee the comfort of visitors and worshippers who flock from all corners of the earth, reflecting the Kingdom's profound dedication to serving the Two Holy Mosques and meeting the needs of their visitors around the clock.
A rich history and spirituality linked to providing water to the guests of God
Zamzam water holds a profound spiritual and religious significance in the hearts of Muslims worldwide. It is the blessed water that sprang forth in Mecca during the time of the Prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael, peace be upon them. Throughout Islamic history, providing water to pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors has been considered one of the noblest professions and greatest acts of devotion. In modern times, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has undertaken the task of developing this historic service and elevating it to unprecedented levels of organization and professionalism, ensuring that this blessed water reaches every visitor pure and chilled, thus continuing a long history of caring for the Two Holy Mosques.
An integrated system for distributing Zamzam water in the Prophet's Mosque
As part of these tremendous efforts, the Water Supply Department at the Prophet's Mosque has intensified its work to provide Zamzam water, both chilled and unchilled, throughout the mosque's courtyards and outer areas. The department relies on a massive and integrated operational system that includes the provision of over 10,000 Zamzam water dispensers, carefully distributed in strategic locations. An average of approximately 12,000 bottles of water are also provided daily, ready for consumption. In addition, 60 drinking fountains are operated throughout the courtyards and facilities, ensuring easy and convenient access to water for visitors and worshippers without any crowding.
Regional and international impact of visitor care services
The importance of these efforts extends beyond the local level, impacting regionally and internationally. The Prophet's Mosque receives millions of visitors annually from across the globe, and providing water services with such efficiency reflects the Kingdom's positive image and its exceptional ability to manage crowds and provide safe and healthy care. This meticulous organization contributes to enhancing the peace of mind and psychological comfort of pilgrims and Umrah performers, and aligns directly with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to enrich the religious and cultural experience of the guests of God and increase the capacity of the Two Holy Mosques while maintaining the highest standards of quality of life.
Highest safety standards: Laboratory tests and analyses
To ensure the highest water quality, the Authority implements a rigorous and periodic program for collecting and analyzing samples from various sources and distribution networks. This program aims to verify the network's efficiency and the water's safety from both a health and technical perspective. Annual statistics include the collection of approximately 1,640 samples from main reservoirs, 5,000 samples from filling stations, and 740 samples from drinking fountains and public water sources. These efforts extend beyond the main reservoirs, with ongoing laboratory testing encompassing 13,750 samples from water coolers, 1,850 samples from bottles, 8,068 samples from water tankers, and an additional 750 samples from reservoirs. These analyses are conducted daily and continuously to guarantee the safety of the water provided to visitors of the Prophet's Mosque, underscoring the leadership's commitment to the health and safety of every visitor.
