Accurate statistics for the Prophet's Mosque and peace be upon the Messenger
Official statistics released by the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques revealed detailed information on crowd movement. The Prophet's Mosque (Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah), which the Prophet described as a garden from the gardens of Paradise, received approximately 1,293,867 worshippers during the same period. In a profoundly spiritual scene, 2,590,857 visitors had the honor of greeting the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions (may God be pleased with them), in an atmosphere characterized by tranquility and a high degree of smooth flow and organization, reflecting the effectiveness of the implemented crowd management plans.
The Prophet's Mosque: A place of great religious and historical significance
The Prophet's Mosque holds immense importance in the hearts of Muslims, being the second holiest site in Islam after the Grand Mosque in Mecca, and the final resting place of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Prayer in the Prophet's Mosque is equivalent to a thousand prayers elsewhere, except for the Grand Mosque, making it a major destination for millions worldwide. This massive influx of visitors occurs during the month of Rajab, one of the sacred months, which often marks the beginning of the peak season leading up to Sha'ban and then the holy month of Ramadan, when numbers increase significantly and efforts are intensified to accommodate the pilgrims.
An advanced service system that keeps pace with the Kingdom's vision
The authority affirmed its continued efforts to develop the services provided within the Prophet's Mosque and its courtyards, and to enhance operational readiness. These services include continuous cleaning and sanitization around the clock, providing chilled Zamzam water throughout the mosque, in addition to advanced air conditioning and smart crowd management systems.
These tremendous efforts are in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which pays great attention to serving the guests of God, and seeks to increase the capacity of the holy sites and the Two Holy Mosques, to enable the largest number of Muslims to perform their rituals and visit their Prophet’s Mosque with ease, tranquility and safety.
