Princess Nourah University signs a memorandum of cooperation with the Alimony Fund

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening effective institutional partnerships, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, represented by the National Observatory for Women, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Alimony Fund. This significant agreement aims to exchange expertise and knowledge in areas of mutual interest, directly contributing to achieving sustainable development and supporting women's and community issues in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was signed at the university's main campus in the presence of the acting president, Dr. Fawzia bint Sulaiman Al-Omar. The National Women's Observatory was represented by its director, Dr. Sanaa bint Mohsen Al-Otaibi, while the Alimony Fund was represented by its director general, Ms. Noura bint Abdullah Al-Ghunaim.

Princess Nourah University's role in promoting community partnerships

This step builds upon the long and distinguished history of Princess Nourah University as the world's largest women's university, established as a beacon of knowledge that contributes to the empowerment of Saudi women in all fields. Within the framework of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the National Women's Observatory plays a pivotal role in monitoring and tracking indicators of women's participation in national development, and in providing studies and research that support decision-makers.

On the other hand, the Alimony Fund, affiliated with the Ministry of Justice, is one of the most important social funds established to ensure the timely disbursement of alimony to eligible recipients, thus contributing to family stability and providing a dignified life for them. Therefore, this memorandum emerges as a natural response to the pressing need to integrate academic and research efforts with social and legal initiatives to serve Saudi families and provide a comprehensive protection framework based on sound scientific and institutional foundations.

Designing advanced training and research programs

The memorandum outlines areas of cooperation, including joint design and implementation of specialized awareness, training, and research programs within the respective fields of expertise of both parties. The agreement also includes promoting active participation in various programs and workshops, as well as close collaboration on initiatives and areas of mutual interest. These provisions collectively aim to achieve the shared objectives of both parties, namely the exchange of expertise and knowledge to build the capacity of national personnel and raise public awareness of family rights and responsibilities.

Expected impact of the agreement at the local and regional levels

This collaboration is of paramount importance and is expected to have a far-reaching impact across several levels. Locally, combining the university's academic expertise with the executive role of the Alimony Fund will contribute to raising legal and financial awareness among women and developing rigorous scientific research that addresses the challenges faced by families entitled to alimony, thus positively impacting social stability and quality of life.

At the regional and international levels, this partnership offers a leading institutional model for how higher education institutions can be integrated with government funds focused on social and justice. Furthermore, the outputs of these research and training programs will enrich the Arabic library with real-world case studies and innovative solutions applicable to other societies seeking to strengthen social protection systems and empower women, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a leader in sustainable social development and the achievement of global development goals.
