Efforts to prepare Makkah's parks to receive Eid al-Fitr visitors

The Holy Capital Municipality has completed all its extensive preparations to ready and equip Makkah's parks and public gardens to welcome residents, visitors, and pilgrims during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. This step comes as part of ongoing and diligent efforts to provide safe and fully equipped recreational facilities, allowing families to enjoy pleasant times in a festive and joyful atmosphere befitting the status of the Holy Capital.
The historical and spiritual significance of the holy capital during the holidays
Makkah holds an exceptional religious and historical significance, making preparations for the end of Ramadan and the arrival of Eid al-Fitr all the more crucial. Historically, the holy city has welcomed millions of pilgrims and visitors, making the provision of recreational spaces and natural areas of paramount importance. The focus on developing these facilities is not a recent development, but rather the culmination of cumulative governmental efforts aimed at achieving a balance between religious spirituality and providing comfort and entertainment for residents and visitors alike, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's bright and progressive image in serving its guests.
A comprehensive plan for the maintenance and rehabilitation of Makkah's gardens
Current preparations have included extensive maintenance and rehabilitation work on a large number of parks and public squares in Makkah . This work has involved meticulous care of green spaces, pruning trees and plants, and maintaining irrigation networks to ensure their sustainability. The municipality has also ensured the maintenance of children's play equipment, walkways, seating areas, and lighting systems, guaranteeing that these sites are fully ready to welcome visitors during the Eid holidays. Furthermore, the municipality's field teams have intensified their cleaning, landscaping, and beautification efforts, along with closely monitoring the readiness of service facilities within the parks.
Enhancing quality of life and the positive impact of recreational facilities
This seasonal event has a significant local and regional impact, aligning directly with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, specifically the Quality of Life Program. Providing a suitable recreational environment contributes to enhancing the mental and physical well-being of the population and encourages participation in sports and social activities in open spaces. Locally, these facilities boost domestic tourism and offer safe destinations for families. Regionally and internationally, they reflect the Saudi infrastructure's ability to efficiently accommodate and manage large crowds, providing standardized services that meet the expectations of visitors from around the world.
Advanced equipment and diverse service facilities
The Municipality clarified that Makkah currently boasts 294 parks, covering a total area exceeding 2,039,993 square meters of gardens, squares, and playgrounds. These expansive spaces include 83 municipal squares, 184 sports fields, 11 pedestrian walkways, 11 decorative fountains, and 5 clubs, in addition to 1,711,910 linear meters of green spaces and roadside landscaping. These sites also feature over 174,264 trees and 7,069 palm trees distributed throughout various neighborhoods, streets, and main thoroughfares. They have been developed according to the latest technical and engineering standards, including shaded seating areas, comprehensive service facilities, children's play areas, walking paths, and modern lighting.
At the conclusion of its comprehensive operational plan for the Eid al-Fitr holiday season, the Holy Capital Municipality called upon all visitors to parks and public spaces to preserve public facilities and to cooperate continuously with the relevant authorities. This community cooperation effectively contributes to maintaining these sites as distinctive and sustainable recreational destinations, enjoyed by everyone during the Eid holidays and throughout the year.
