Polish twins Olga and Daria thank Saudi Arabia 21 years after their separation

In a touching display of humanitarianism that exemplifies the sustainability of charitable work and the efficiency of the Saudi medical system, the Polish twins Olga and Daria were welcomed back to Riyadh on Monday, 21 years after their successful separation surgery performed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, met with the twins at the Center's headquarters, in a meeting that rekindled memories of the medical achievement that has been inscribed in the annals of the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins.

Return after two decades

The visit of Olga and Daria brings to mind a global medical success story that took place more than two decades ago at King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard in Riyadh. During the meeting, the twins expressed their deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its government and people, and to the medical team led by Dr. Al-Rabeeah, emphasizing that the operation was not just a surgical procedure, but a radical turning point that gave them the opportunity to live independently and naturally, enabling them to lead their daily lives and integrate into society with confidence and competence.

The Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins: A Global Leader

During the meeting, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah emphasized that the successive successes achieved by the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins are a result of the unlimited support from the wise leadership, represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman – may God protect them. He explained that this support has enabled the program to achieve a distinguished international standing, becoming a global medical authority in this specialized field.

Al-Rabeeah reviewed, in numerical terms, the achievements of the program, which has a history spanning 35 years, where Saudi medical professionals were able to perform 67 successful separation operations, and provided the necessary medical care to 155 twins who came from 28 countries around the world, reflecting the great international confidence in the Saudi health sector.

A humanitarian message that transcends borders

The significance of this event extends beyond the medical aspect, highlighting the Kingdom's leading role in humanitarian work. Dr. Al-Rabeeah noted that the program has become a destination for all those seeking hope and treatment, both within and outside the Kingdom, embodying the Kingdom's noble mission that transcends geographical boundaries and ethnic differences to reach humanity wherever it may be. This visit, and the twins' return after many years in good health, underscores the quality and sustainability of healthcare and reinforces Saudi Arabia's position as a leading force in humanitarian work, a fact clearly demonstrated by the Kingdom's consistently top rankings in international relief and humanitarian aid.
