Princess Nourah University Frame Exhibition: Students' Creativity in Filmmaking

In a move reflecting the rapid development of the arts and film education sector in Saudi Arabia, the College of Design and Arts at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University the third edition of the “Frame” exhibition tomorrow, Monday. This event serves as a leading platform to showcase the graduation projects of the third cohort of students in the Film and Animation program, and will take place at the college premises, with the participation of approximately 26 talented students.
Supporting the cinematic and cultural movement in the Kingdom
The “Frame” exhibition holds particular significance within the context of the unprecedented cultural and artistic movement underway in Saudi Arabia, driven by the goals of Vision 2030, which has placed great emphasis on developing the film industry and supporting young talent. This exhibition is the culmination of intensive academic efforts aimed at supplying the job market with qualified female professionals capable of producing local visual content to international standards. The university's role extends beyond theoretical education to include practical application, evident in the quality of the exhibited projects, thus strengthening the presence of Saudi women in the regional and international film scene.
Narrative and visual diversity in graduation projects
The exhibition, which runs until January 7, 2026, features six short films representing the culmination of the students' work in the graduation project course for the Department of Cinema and Theater Arts. These works are distinguished by their rich diversity in themes and artistic styles, blending animation techniques with live-action film production. The narrative forms range from fantasy to drama, with a notable emphasis on drawing inspiration from the Kingdom's cultural heritage and historical dimension, presented through a contemporary lens.
The list of films being shown includes striking titles with profound meanings, namely:
- The film “Najd Gate”: which reflects a connection to roots and place.
- The film “Haddaj Tayma”: inspired by the ancient history of the Tayma oasis.
- The film “Meteor Night”: which leans towards fantasy.
- In addition to the films “The Last Destination” , “Shehana” , and “Draft” .
A platform for discovering promising talents
Dr. Haya Al-Rashoud, Head of the Cinema and Theater Arts Department at the College of Design and Arts, explained that the exhibition embodies the department's commitment to developing arts education to keep pace with the transformations in the Saudi creative landscape. She noted that the projects were designed to reflect the students' acquired knowledge and skills, relying on creative and critical thinking methodologies, with the aim of promoting competitive local content.
The “Frame” exhibition provides a vital opportunity for communication between female graduates, university students, and those interested in filmmaking, opening up prospects for future cooperation and discovering promising talents who can lead the creative direction in the film and animation sector.
Visiting times and target groups
The exhibition opens its doors to visitors and those interested according to a specific schedule that ensures the opportunity for different segments of society to view these artistic experiences:
- Evening period: Open to everyone from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
- Morning period: Reserved for women only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 10 am until 1 pm.
