Arafah Day: Tears and prayers of the pilgrims on the sacred plains of Arafat

In moments of profound faith, where belief is manifest and tears flow, the pilgrims stood on the sacred plains of Arafat, making the most of the final hours before sunset on Day of Arafat . The guests of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Hajj, Umrah, and Visit Program, implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, welcomed this great day with humble hearts and bodies turned towards the Qibla, supplicating to God for acceptance and forgiveness at the conclusion of the greatest day of Hajj, carrying in their hearts hopes and aspirations from all corners of the earth.
The importance and status of the Day of Arafah in the hearts of Muslims
Standing on Mount Arafat is the most important pillar of Hajj, as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Hajj is Arafat.” The historical and religious significance of this day lies in its being a day of forgiveness of sins and deliverance from Hellfire, and the day on which God perfected His favor upon the Muslim nation and completed its religion. Millions of Muslims from all corners of the world, of diverse colors and languages, gather on this single plain, wearing the same white garments, embodying the greatest values of equality and Islamic unity that transcend geographical and social boundaries.
Tears, supplication, and prayers that embrace the heavens
In their camps in Arafat, the pilgrims lay on the ground, standing in supplication, raising their hands to the heavens, making the most of the precious moments before their departure to Muzdalifah. Tears of hope mingled with heartfelt prayers for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman – may God protect them – for the generous royal gesture that enabled them to perform this great pilgrimage with comprehensive hospitality and high-quality services that ensured their comfort and tranquility.
The impact of the event and messages of peace to the world
The pilgrims' prayers were not limited to themselves, but extended to their homelands and families, beseeching God Almighty to improve the conditions of the Muslim Ummah, to stop the bloodshed, and to spread security, peace, and stability throughout the world. Each pilgrim carries in their heart the responsibility of praying for their relatives and friends who were not able to make this spiritual journey this year, receiving daily reminders to pray for them in this blessed place. This massive annual gathering sends a powerful message of peace and tolerance to the entire international community, underscoring the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's leading role in organizing and managing this global event with efficiency and competence, thus reinforcing its regional and international standing as the Qibla for Muslims and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
