As part of ongoing efforts to protect aquatic resources and ensure compliance with environmental regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the coastal patrols of the Border Guard in Rabigh Governorate in the Makkah Region were able to apprehend a citizen who violated the security and safety regulations for those practicing marine activities.

The relevant authorities explained that the arrest was the result of close monitoring of marine areas, during which the citizen was observed fishing without the necessary permit and using prohibited fishing gear that poses a threat to the marine environment. Quantities of fish caught illegally were found in his possession. The competent authorities have initiated legal proceedings against the violator, in coordination with relevant agencies, to ensure the application of the prescribed penalties.

It clarified that reports can be made by calling 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh, Eastern Province, and Madinah regions, and 994, 999, and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom, emphasizing that all reports are treated with the utmost confidentiality.
