Panama recorded 25 deaths and 15,000 cases of dengue fever in 2025
Panamanian health authorities have announced alarming figures regarding the epidemiological situation in the country, with 25 confirmed deaths linked to dengue fever recorded since the beginning of 2025. These statistics come at a time when the country is intensifying its efforts to contain the spread of disease-carrying mosquitoes in various provinces.
The Panamanian Ministry of Health revealed in its official report that the total number of confirmed dengue fever cases reached 15,098 by the end of November. The data indicated that the health situation required intensive medical intervention, with 1,474 patients hospitalized due to severe symptoms necessitating immediate clinical care.

Epidemiological maps showed that Panama City and the San Miguelto region were the hardest hit by the outbreak, accounting for the largest share of infections with 7,242 cases. This is largely attributed to the high population density, which facilitates mosquito-borne transmission. According to official data, the overall infection rate in the country reached 330 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, indicating widespread transmission of the virus.
Regarding the demographic distribution of those infected, the ministry explained that the active and youthful age group between 10 and 49 years old is the most vulnerable to infection and affected by the disease, which directly impacts the overall productivity and daily life of the population.

Health authorities urge citizens to eliminate stagnant water sources in and around their homes, use insect repellents, and seek medical attention immediately upon the onset of symptoms to reduce the risk of death and serious complications.
