National Water Company completes the Zulfi and Thadiq water project for 63 million riyals

The National Water Company, reflecting its ongoing commitment to developing water infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, announced the completion of a vital project to deliver desalinated water to the Al-Zulfi and Thadiq governorates in the Riyadh region. This project, costing over 63 million riyals, represents a significant addition to the region's water services system.
Project details and beneficiary neighborhoods
The company explained in its statement that the project included laying over 181 kilometers of main and secondary water lines and networks. The work in Al-Zulfi Governorate covered several vital neighborhoods, including Qurtuba, Al-Rabwa, Al-Wissam, Hittin, Al-Rayyan, and Badr, in addition to plots numbered 962 and 954. Operational reliability was further enhanced by connecting these networks to the elevated reservoir to ensure a continuous pumping supply.
In Thadiq Governorate, the water network has been extended to include Plan (340) in Al Yarmouk neighborhood and Plan (196) in Al Aqiq neighborhood. This significant expansion aims to serve more than 51,000 new beneficiaries in the two governorates, thus reducing reliance on water tankers and increasing network coverage.
Development context and the objectives of Vision 2030
This achievement comes within the broader strategic framework adopted by the Kingdom to achieve water security. The National Water Company operates in accordance with the National Water Strategy, which aims to provide sustainable and high-quality water and sanitation services. Water infrastructure projects are a fundamental pillar of the Quality of Life Program, one of the programs of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to improve the living environment for citizens and residents.
These projects are of particular importance in the Riyadh region due to urban expansion and increasing population growth, which necessitates raising the operational efficiency of the distribution system. The shift from intermittent distribution or reliance on tankers to continuous pumping through the networks is a strategic objective that contributes to environmental protection and reduces water waste.
Invitation to take advantage of digital services
In closing, the National Water Company urged all customers in the neighborhoods and districts covered by the project to apply for water service. The company emphasized that applications are easily accessible through its approved digital channels, including its mobile application and its online portal, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for beneficiaries.
