National Water Company completes projects in southern Jeddah and opens applications

The National Water Company, represented by its Western Sector, announced the completion of a major milestone in the development of water infrastructure in Jeddah Governorate, with the finalization of a comprehensive system of water projects in the southern part of the governorate. This step culminates the company's ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of water services and keep pace with the urban expansion witnessed by the Kingdom.
Details of completed projects in South Jeddah
The completed works included three major capital projects with a total cost exceeding 152 million Saudi Riyals . These projects involved the construction of secondary and main water networks of standard lengths, with the laying of water networks exceeding 250,000 linear meters, in addition to the implementation of strategic main transmission lines exceeding 16,500 meters in length. These networks aim to ensure a sufficient water supply and appropriate pressure for the targeted neighborhoods.
Beneficiary neighborhoods and expected impact
The company explained that the new projects directly target the Al-Qurainiyah and Al-Khumrah , enabling more than 322,000 beneficiaries to access desalinated water services reliably. This achievement represents a significant leap forward for the residents of these areas, as it will contribute to:
- Eliminating the need for water tanks and reducing costs for citizens.
- Improving the operational efficiency of the water system in southern Jeddah.
- Enhancing the reliability of water supply and keeping pace with increasing population density.
Sustainable development and infrastructure context
These projects are part of the comprehensive plan implemented by the National Water Company; they represent an extension of a series of previously completed projects in several neighborhoods, including Al-Ajawid East and West, Prince Fawaz Housing, Al-Alfiyah 1 and 2, Al-Huda, Al-Faisal, and Al-Fadilah. The company has supported these networks by constructing a pumping station with a capacity of up to 95,000 cubic meters per day, underscoring its commitment to building a robust and sustainable infrastructure.
The importance of the project within the Kingdom's Vision 2030
These projects are of particular importance within the context of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , specifically within the objectives of the Quality of Life Program and environmental and water sustainability programs. By expanding network coverage, the National Water Company contributes to achieving urban water security, improving the urban landscape by reducing the movement of trucks and tankers, and supporting economic and real estate development in the rapidly growing southern Jeddah areas.
