King Salman Relief Center distributes winter clothing in Syria 2026

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its pioneering humanitarian efforts to extend a helping hand to needy and affected families in the Syrian Arab Republic, as the center announced the distribution of 584 shopping vouchers allocated for winter clothing, within the “Kanaf” project for the year 2026. This step comes in response to the urgent need to provide warmth for families in light of the difficult climatic conditions.
Geographical distribution encompassing several affected areas
The distribution operations covered diverse geographical areas to ensure that aid reached those in need across various Syrian governorates. Distribution was concentrated in the following locations:
- Idlib Governorate: The distribution took place in the Khirbet al-Jouz center, an area suffering from a high density of humanitarian needs.
- Daraa Governorate: The aid included the centers of Busra al-Sham and al-Musayfirah, to support families in southern Syria.
- Latakia Governorate: The hand of giving has extended to include the Salma Center, contributing to easing the burdens on the people there.
584 individuals directly benefited from these vouchers, as they were able to obtain winter clothing to protect them from the harsh winter cold.
The "Kanaf" project: A mechanism to preserve human dignity
The winter clothing distribution project (Kanaf) is one of the unique projects implemented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. The "purchase voucher" mechanism is distinguished by giving beneficiaries the freedom to choose clothing that suits their sizes, tastes, and actual needs, thus enhancing the beneficiary's dignity and achieving greater efficiency in meeting actual needs, instead of distributing packages of ready-made clothing that may not be suitable for everyone.
The context of winter suffering in Syria
This aid is doubly important given the climatic and economic context in Syria. With the arrival of winter, temperatures plummet, and many areas experience frost, snow, and heavy rain. Damaged infrastructure, shortages of heating fuel, and soaring prices for winter clothing in local markets make access to winter clothing a significant challenge for families, making the intervention of relief organizations vital for the health and safety of children and the elderly.
The leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
This support is an extension of the historical and humanitarian role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, has consistently stood by Arab and Muslim peoples in their times of crisis. The Center's assistance in Syria is not limited to winter clothing; it extends to the sectors of food security, health, shelter, and water, within a comprehensive system aimed at alleviating the suffering of the brotherly Syrian people and providing them with the essentials for a dignified life under the current circumstances.
