New King Fahd Causeway tolls 2026: Prices and details

The King Fahd Causeway Authority has officially announced the implementation of the updated toll structure for vehicles and trucks crossing the vital crossing linking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain, effective tomorrow, February 18, 2026. This decision comes within the framework of the Authority's strategy aimed at regulating the increasing traffic flow and improving the quality of services provided to travelers and users of the bridge.

New fee schedule and pricing details

According to the statement issued by the institution, the new crossing fare for one direction has been set as follows:

  • Private cars and motorcycles: 35 riyals.
  • Minibuses: 55 riyals.
  • Large buses: 70 riyals.
  • Trucks: 7 riyals per ton.

In a gesture that takes into account social and humanitarian aspects, the Foundation confirmed that the current fees will continue to be applied without any change to the exempted categories, which include people with disabilities, students, and frequent travelers, reflecting the keenness of the concerned authorities to support these groups and facilitate their daily or periodic movement between the two kingdoms.

King Fahd Causeway: A vital artery and a rich history

The King Fahd Causeway is more than just a crossing point; it's a symbol of the enduring brotherhood between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Officially opened in 1986, the 25-kilometer-long bridge is one of the longest sea bridges in the world. Since its opening, the bridge has played a pivotal role in strengthening social ties between families in both countries and has become an architectural and engineering icon that testifies to the depth of the bilateral relationship.

Economic importance and infrastructure development

The move to update the toll fees is particularly important given the economic significance of the causeway; it is the only land crossing connecting Bahrain to the outside world, and a huge percentage of imports and exports pass through it, making it a vital artery for intra-regional trade. The causeway also directly contributes to the revitalization of the tourism sector, with millions of travelers crossing it annually, especially during holidays and festivals.

The foundation explained that the proceeds from this amendment will go directly into bridge infrastructure development projects, facility maintenance, and the application of the latest smart technologies to speed up travel procedures and reduce waiting times, ensuring a smooth and safe travel experience for all crossings, and keeping pace with the steady growth in the number of vehicles and trucks expected in the coming years.
