Netflix will stream BTS's comeback concert live in 190 countries

In a move reflecting the immense global influence of Korean music, Netflix on Tuesday that it has acquired the exclusive rights to stream the comeback concert of South Korean boy band BTS, which will be broadcast in approximately 190 countries worldwide. This broadcast is expected to be the largest and most extensive live event in K-pop history to date, setting a new standard for digital entertainment streaming.

Netflix has confirmed that the highly anticipated concert will be streamed live on March 21, marking the official return of the group with a full squad. The band, a global icon and one of South Korea's most important cultural exports, had ceased group activities since 2022. This hiatus was in compliance with South Korea's mandatory military service laws, which require all able-bodied men to perform national service, a duty the seven band members honored as part of their patriotism.

After all members completed their military service last year, the group is preparing to launch a new artistic phase with the release of an album titled “Arirang” on March 20. The album’s title carries deep cultural connotations, as “Arirang” is a traditional Korean folk song that symbolizes patriotism and resilience, aligning with Netflix’s description of the album as “offering a profound reflection on the group’s origins and identity.”.

The group is also gearing up for their biggest world tour yet in April, featuring 79 concerts in 34 cities worldwide. According to Hype Entertainment, the group’s production company, this will be the largest K-pop tour in terms of total shows, further cementing BTS’s dominance on the international music scene.
