The Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) announced that it initiated a number of criminal and administrative cases during May, as part of its ongoing efforts to uphold the values of integrity and transparency and combat illicit enrichment. The Authority explained that it conducted thousands of inspection tours and investigations, resulting in the arrest of 160 citizens and residents involved in crimes affecting public integrity, including bribery and abuse of official positions. Some of those arrested were released on bail after the completion of legal procedures.

During May, the Authority intensified its field operations to an unprecedented degree, conducting 2,365 general inspection tours and 480 detailed investigations. In conjunction with preparations for religious seasons, the Authority carried out 14,989 intensive inspection tours in the Holy Sites to ensure the safety of services provided to pilgrims and to guarantee they were free from any administrative or financial irregularities that could affect the quality of the Hajj and Umrah sector.
