The Muslim World League supports Saudi Arabia against the Southern Transitional Council's escalation in Yemen

The Muslim World League announced its full support and absolute endorsement of the supplementary statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which aims to address the escalatory steps taken by the Southern Transitional Council in the governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra, in addition to its support for what was stated in the statement of the leadership of the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen regarding monitoring the movements of ships loaded with weapons and heavy vehicles coming from the port of Fujairah to the port of Mukalla without prior coordination or official permits.

A firm stance in support of Yemeni legitimacy

In an official statement issued by the Muslim World League's General Secretariat, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the League and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, affirmed that the League, with all its global assemblies and bodies, stands united with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to preserve its national security and the stability of the region. Al-Issa commended the wise principles contained in the Saudi statement, which prioritizes the interests and unity of the Yemeni people above all else, and called for an end to division and for rallying around the internationally recognized legitimate leadership.

The context of the crisis and the importance of stability in the liberated governorates

These developments come at a sensitive time for the Yemeni conflict, as Saudi Arabia, as leader of the Arab Coalition, seeks to unify ranks to confront the major challenges posed by the Houthi coup. The governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra are of paramount strategic and geographical importance, representing a strategic depth for the liberated areas. Any escalation or destabilization within them directly impacts the course of military and political operations in Yemen as a whole.

Historically, since the start of its operations, the Arab Coalition has worked to ensure that all military and security movements are conducted within the framework of the Joint Operations Room. This is to prevent the fragmentation of efforts or the outbreak of side conflicts that could hinder the goal of restoring the state. Unilaterally shipping weapons without permits constitutes a violation of established protocols, necessitating this firm stance to keep the focus on the primary objective.

The repercussions of escalation and the necessity of dialogue

The Muslim World League warned that supporting practices outside the framework of legitimacy only serves the enemies of Yemen and deepens internal divisions. The statement indicated that outstanding issues, including the Southern issue, must be resolved through constructive dialogue and within agreed-upon political and legal frameworks, not through imposing a fait accompli by force of arms or unilateral actions.

The League concluded its statement by calling on all the people of Yemen and its political components to prioritize reason and wisdom, and to move forward towards a safe and prosperous Yemen, warning that the only price to be paid for being drawn into sedition is the ordinary Yemeni citizen, and that the security of the Kingdom and the region is a red line that cannot be compromised.
