The Muslim World League condemns the terrorist attack in Wuro, Nigeria

The Muslim World League issued an official statement expressing its unequivocal condemnation and strong denunciation of the treacherous terrorist attack that targeted defenseless civilians in the town of "Woro" in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which resulted in heavy loss of life and multiple injuries among the peaceful population.
Full solidarity with Nigeria
In a statement issued by the General Secretariat of the Muslim World League from Mecca, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa , affirmed the League's full solidarity with the Nigerian government and people in this profound tragedy. He emphasized that the League supports all measures taken by Nigeria to protect its security and stability and to safeguard its citizens against the forces of evil and terrorism that seek to undermine civil peace.
Context of security challenges in the region
This attack comes at a time when Nigeria and the West African region are facing escalating security challenges due to the activities of armed groups and terrorist organizations. These attacks, targeting remote villages and towns, are a desperate attempt to fracture the social fabric and sow terror among the population. Nigeria has been waging a fierce battle against violent extremism for years, necessitating concerted regional and international efforts to support its endeavors to eradicate the roots of terrorism and cut off its ideological and financial resources.
The League's firm stance against violence
Dr. Al-Issa reiterated the Muslim World League's principled and unwavering stance against all forms of violence, terrorism, and extremism, regardless of the motives or justifications. He emphasized that these criminal acts contravene all divine laws, human values, and international conventions. The League works diligently through its global initiatives, such as the Makkah Declaration, to promote the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence and to combat hate speech that fuels such atrocities.
Condolences and sympathy
The Secretary-General concluded the statement by offering his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Republic of Nigeria, its leadership, government and people, and to the bereaved families of the victims, asking God Almighty to have mercy on the deceased and grant them paradise, to grant the injured a speedy recovery, and to protect Nigeria and its people from all harm and evil.
