The Muslim World League condemns the electricity attack in Berlin

The Muslim World League issued an official statement expressing its strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack that targeted energy and electricity supplies in the German capital, Berlin. The attack, claimed by a radical left-wing group, resulted in power outages affecting large areas, including tens of thousands of homes, as well as directly impacting hospitals and vital facilities in the city.
Full solidarity with the German people
In a statement issued by the Muslim World League's General Secretariat in Mecca, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, reiterated the League's firm and principled stance rejecting and condemning all forms of violence and terrorism, regardless of their motives, justifications, or the parties behind them. His Excellency expressed the League's full solidarity and sympathy with the German government and people, and specifically mentioned the families directly affected by this act of sabotage amidst harsh weather conditions.
Targeting infrastructure and threatening civilians
The statement highlighted the seriousness of such attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, particularly during critical periods of low temperatures, which endanger the lives of thousands of civilians and hospital patients. This attack underscores the growing security challenges facing European countries in protecting vital energy facilities, as electricity grids are the lifeblood of modern life, and any disruption to them poses a threat to national security and social peace.
General context and importance of energy security
This event is particularly significant given its timing and global context; Europe is on high alert regarding energy security. Germany, as Europe's largest economy, is a vital center of industry and stability in the region. Therefore, the targeting of its electricity grid by extremist groups is not merely an act of local sabotage, but carries alarming implications about the evolving tactics of these groups in targeting infrastructure that directly impacts citizens' lives, aiming to create widespread chaos.
The League's stance on global extremism
The Muslim World League's statement reflects its global vision in combating extremism, emphasizing that terrorism has no religion or identity, whether it stems from extremist religious groups or radical political movements such as far-left groups. The League consistently calls for concerted international efforts to confront these threats, which make no distinction between race or religion and aim solely to destabilize and terrorize innocent people. This stance is an extension of the League's ongoing efforts to promote international peace and reject hatred and violence in all its forms.
