Serving the pilgrims: Municipalities in Mecca address 770 reports

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, in cooperation with the Holy Capital Municipality, announced the success of its operational and field plans for the 1447 AH Hajj season, affirming its full commitment to providing the highest levels of service to pilgrims in Makkah and the Holy Sites. These efforts align with the leadership's directives aimed at harnessing all available human and technological resources to ensure the comfort of pilgrims and the smooth and tranquil performance of their rituals.
Continuous efforts to serve the pilgrims in Mecca and the holy sites
The Ministry revealed that its unified call center (940) and its digital channels handled more than 770 service-related reports between the 4th and 8th of Dhul-Hijjah. This rapid response comes amidst the massive crowds and continuous movement of pilgrims in the holy sites and the central area surrounding the Grand Mosque. The reports addressed focused on public hygiene, environmental sanitation, and maintenance of public facilities. Field teams achieved a 100% immediate response rate to critical reports, reflecting the high level of preparedness and exceptional speed of the emergency response system.
Digital transformation and upgrading municipal services
Historically, Hajj season management in Saudi Arabia has witnessed tremendous development. Services, once reliant on simple, traditional field efforts, are now managed through integrated digital systems and smart operations rooms operating around the clock. The unified call center, 940, is a cornerstone of this transformation, having received 236 calls in several international languages during this short period, making it easy for pilgrims of all nationalities to submit their comments and inquiries. This technological advancement aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which prioritizes enhancing the quality of services provided to pilgrims.
Environmental and health impact to ensure the safety of pilgrims
The importance of these municipal services extends beyond mere regulation to encompass crucial health and environmental dimensions at both the local and international levels. Maintaining environmental sanitation and public hygiene in areas with massive population flows directly contributes to preventing the spread of epidemics and infectious diseases, thus ensuring global health security. This operational success also reinforces the Kingdom's position as a distinguished leader in effectively and competently managing large crowds, leaving a profound positive impact on millions of Muslims who share their positive experiences with their home countries, underscoring the Kingdom's pioneering role in serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.
