Applications are now open for the competitive skills development program for first-year high school students

The Saudi Ministry of Education has announced the opening of applications for the "Abilities Development Competition" program, designed for first-year secondary school students. This initiative is part of the Ministry's ambitious strategy to enhance the academic readiness of Saudi students and enable them to compete for places in top-tier international universities.
A strategic context that aligns with Vision 2030
The “Munafes” program is more than just a standard training course; it represents a cornerstone of the “Human Capability Development” system, one of the programs under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The program aims to bridge the gap between general education and the rigorous admission requirements of elite global universities. Historically, many high-achieving students have faced challenges adapting to international academic environments or passing standardized entrance exams. This program offers a proactive solution starting in secondary school, enhancing the Kingdom’s opportunities to cultivate a generation of globally qualified leaders and scientists.
Program objectives and pathways
The program is based on a holistic approach to education, which does not only focus on academic achievement, but also extends to include:
- Intensive language preparation: Improving English proficiency for academic purposes.
- Cultural preparation: Developing skills for adapting to and coexisting in multicultural environments.
- Career guidance: Directing students towards specializations that align with their passions and the needs of the future job market.
- Technical support: Assisting students with the complex application procedures for international universities.
Study mechanism and time flexibility
The ministry designed the program to be flexible and not conflict with the student's regular school schedule. The program is delivered in the evenings for 5 to 10 hours per week and relies primarily on distance learning via interactive platforms, with in-person workshops offered when needed. The program runs throughout the academic year, taking into account school exam periods to ensure that the student's overall academic performance is not affected.
Admission and registration requirements
The Ministry of Education has established a set of precise criteria to ensure the selection of elite students, and these criteria include:
- The student must be of Saudi nationality.
- To be enrolled in the first year of secondary school at the time of application.
- Obtaining a cumulative grade point average of at least 95% in the last stage of study.
- Parental consent and a genuine desire to study abroad.
- Technical equipment is provided (computer and internet connection).
Steps to apply via the Madrasati platform
The Ministry explained that the application portal is available through the "My School" platform, where students select their preferred program. A verification message is then sent to the parent/guardian to confirm the application. Following initial registration, candidates undergo centralized "Competitor" tests and a rigorous selection process. The Ministry emphasized the importance of monitoring the registered communication channels (email and mobile) to ensure the completion of the application process, stressing that consistent attendance and participation are essential for continuing in this promising program.
