Minister of Municipalities and Housing: Protecting 200,000 families through the Good Housing initiative

His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, revealed qualitative achievements made by the non-profit sector in the Kingdom, stressing the success of national initiatives in protecting more than 200,000 cases from losing their homes, thanks to the concerted efforts of the community and unlimited government support.
This came during his participation in the government press conference, which also hosted Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossari and the President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi. Al-Haqil explained that the "Jood Housing" platform represents a pioneering model of social solidarity, having started by serving only 100 families, and now expanding to reach thousands of beneficiary families, supported by contributions from more than 4.5 million donors, reflecting the spirit of giving inherent in Saudi society.
Institutional transformation and keeping pace with Vision 2030
In discussing the strategic background of these achievements, these figures directly reflect the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which focused on empowering the third (non-profit) sector and increasing its contribution to the GDP. The sector has witnessed a radical transformation from limited individual efforts to a comprehensive institutional framework. The Minister noted the presence of over 300 highly professional non-profit organizations operating in the housing and municipal sectors, with 1.4 million volunteers participating over the past five years, thus reinforcing the values of responsible citizenship.
Quality initiatives: Generosity in honoring the dead
Al-Haqil addressed the profound humanitarian dimension of the ministry's initiatives, highlighting the "Jood Ikram Al-Mawta" platform, which prioritizes the dignity of the deceased and facilitates the journey for their families. He emphasized that this initiative has evolved from limited ideas into a comprehensive national system that ensures services are provided according to the highest legal and humanitarian standards, reflecting the leadership's commitment to attending to all aspects of a dignified life for citizens and residents.
Digital integration and the role of artificial intelligence
For his part, the presence of the head of SDAIA at the conference reflects the paramount importance of digital transformation in enhancing transparency and reliability in charitable work. Data and artificial intelligence play a pivotal role in platforms such as Ihsan and Jood Housing, ensuring that support reaches those who deserve it with high accuracy and analyzing actual needs. This has contributed to strengthening donor confidence and accelerating progress on complex projects that previously took a long time.
This governmental and societal movement is evidence of the maturity of the Saudi experience in managing social issues, providing a model to be emulated regionally in how to transform housing and social challenges into opportunities for national cohesion and sustainable development.
