The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia revealed details of the minimum temperatures recorded Thursday night and Friday morning, showing a noticeable drop in several regions of the Kingdom, reflecting the peak of the current winter season. The city of Dammam topped the list in the Eastern Province, recording a low of 7 degrees Celsius, a figure that reflects the cold coastal weather during this time of year.

Temperature details in Saudi cities

According to the report, the Kingdom's cities experienced a clear variation in minimum temperatures, with the capital Riyadh, Dammam, Abha, and Tabuk recording the same low of 7 degrees Celsius, while the northern regions recorded the lowest temperatures. The detailed list is as follows:

  • Eastern and Central Region: Dammam, Riyadh, Buraidah, Dawadmi, Al-Kharj and Al-Ahsa recorded 7 degrees Celsius, while Al-Majma’ah recorded 8 degrees, and Hafr Al-Batin, Rawdat Al-Tanhat and Al-Dahna desert recorded 5 degrees Celsius.

Climatic and geographical diversity in the Kingdom

These figures reflect the great geographical and climatic diversity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. While southern coastal areas such as Jazan and Al-Qunfudhah enjoy warm weather exceeding 20 degrees Celsius at night, mountainous regions like As-Soudah and northern areas like Al-Qurayyat experience harsh winter weather approaching freezing temperatures. This variation is due to the Kingdom's vast size and diverse topography, ranging from coastal plains and central plateaus to towering mountains.

The importance of following weather reports

This data is of particular importance to citizens and residents for planning their daily lives, especially regarding appropriate winter clothing and exercising caution while driving late at night and in the early morning, as fog or frost may form in areas experiencing very low temperatures, such as Al-Soudah and the north. The National Center of Meteorology consistently emphasizes the need to follow its periodic bulletins to ensure public safety, particularly during weekends when camping and outdoor activities are common.
