These efforts are supported by extensive media participation from more than 100 officials representing 26 government entities, underscoring the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to presenting a transparent and comprehensive picture to the world of the outstanding services provided to the pilgrims.
A historical development in media coverage of the Hajj season
Over the decades, the management and organization of the Hajj pilgrimage has undergone radical transformations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since the unification of the country, the Saudi leadership has placed serving the Two Holy Mosques at the forefront of its priorities. Historically, media coverage of the Hajj season has evolved from limited local radio and television broadcasts in past decades to a comprehensive digital media system broadcasting in multiple languages and reaching all corners of the globe. This historical development reflects the Kingdom's commitment to keeping pace with the latest technologies to convey the spirituality of the holy sites and highlight the enormous organizational efforts undertaken by the state to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims year after year.
Government press conference: Institutional integration to serve pilgrims
In a move reflecting transparency and institutional integration across government sectors, the government press conference hosted five ministers to review the most prominent preparations for the 1447 AH Hajj season. The conference featured the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah; the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Majid Al-Hogail; the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser; the Minister of Health, Fahd Al-Jalajel; and the Minister of Media, Salman Al-Dossari. During the conference, the Minister of Media confirmed the completion of 5G network coverage in the Holy Sites, achieving 100% coverage. This accomplishment reinforces the Kingdom's position as a leading nation, having topped the global rankings in the Digital Readiness Index.
The Makkah Route Initiative: International and Regional Dimensions and Impacts
Among the most prominent initiatives highlighted was the “Makkah Route Initiative,” implemented for the eighth time across 17 entry points in 10 different countries. The impact of this strategic initiative extends beyond the local level, easing congestion at Saudi airports and border crossings. Its regional and international influence serves as a global model for crowd management and streamlined travel procedures. Facilitating the completion of Hajj procedures in pilgrims' home countries reflects the Kingdom's soft power and its profound concern for the well-being of Muslims worldwide, leaving a lasting positive impression on the pilgrims and enhancing the Kingdom's positive image on the international stage.
Advanced security and technological management of the holy sites
In closing, it was emphasized that the Hajj system is managed securely and organizationally through well-defined plans that rely primarily on modern technologies and artificial intelligence. This strategic approach ensures a safe and accessible Hajj experience and demonstrates to the world the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's exceptional ability to efficiently and effectively manage the largest annual human gathering on Earth, dedicating all its human and material resources to serving Islam and Muslims.
