Media coverage of the Hajj season 1447: 11 billion views

The head of the Unified Hajj Media Center, Saleh Al-Thubaiti, confirmed that media coverage for the 1447 AH Hajj season reached unprecedented levels, with the media system operating according to a precise institutional framework that keeps pace with this major global religious event. This success reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to serve the pilgrims and convey the remarkable humanitarian and organizational aspects of the Hajj rituals to the world.
A historical development in conveying sacred sentiments to the world
Over the decades, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has witnessed radical transformations in the way Hajj rituals are conveyed. From the early days of limited radio and television broadcasting to the digital age and artificial intelligence, the wise leadership has always been keen to harness the latest technologies to serve the Two Holy Mosques. This historical development is not merely a technological upgrade, but a firm commitment to conveying the tolerant message of Islam and enabling Muslims from all corners of the earth to experience the spiritual atmosphere moment by moment. Today, the media coverage of the Hajj season crowns this long journey of dedication, transforming Mecca and the Holy Sites into a global focal point that draws the attention of billions.
The “Welcome” identity and the integration of government efforts
Al-Thubaiti explained that the "Hayyakum Allah" (Welcome) media identity, with which the Kingdom greeted pilgrims to the Holy Mosque this year, has become a unifying theme for media coverage and digital platforms. This identity embodies the values of genuine hospitality and warmth that characterize the Kingdom and its leadership in serving pilgrims. He noted that the press briefing organized by the Ministry of Media through the center provides a direct platform for delivering information in real time and answering inquiries from local and international media outlets, with the participation of more than 40 government entities over three days. This integration among government agencies is renewed annually with efficiency and innovation to ensure the success of the Hajj season, with preparations having begun as early as the 15th of Dhul-Hijjah last year.
Dimensions and impact of media coverage of the Hajj season, locally and internationally
The impact of this massive media effort extends far beyond Saudi Arabia, reaching profound regional and international dimensions. Domestically, this success reinforces citizens' pride in their country's ability to efficiently manage the largest human gatherings. Regionally and internationally, conveying the true image of Hajj contributes to strengthening the Kingdom's soft power and highlighting its leading role in the Islamic world. It also reinforces the message of peace and coexistence inherent in Hajj, leaving a positive impression on viewers from diverse cultures and faiths, and underscoring the Kingdom's capacity to organize major global events to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Record numbers and support for content creators
Al-Thubaiti revealed that the volume of media coverage in various languages exceeded 100,000 pieces of content, generating over 11 billion views. He noted that more than 150 media outlets, with the participation of over 3,000 local and international journalists, are covering the season. The Ministry of Media provided various forms of logistical support to enable them to document the event. The Ministry also supported international content creators who published hundreds of thousands of interactive pieces. For its part, the Saudi Broadcasting Authority is providing on-the-ground coverage across eight channels, hosting more than 1,100 guests. The General Authority for Media Regulation is working to streamline procedures for journalists, while the Virtual Media Center has made open-source materials available to facilitate the work of journalists.
The Sustainable Message of Saudi Media
In closing, Al-Thubaiti confirmed that the third Hajj Media Forum welcomed over 13,500 media professionals and visitors. He emphasized that Saudi media will continue its noble mission of conveying the spiritual experience of the Hajj pilgrimage and highlighting the tremendous efforts the Kingdom makes year after year to serve the pilgrims, reflecting the Kingdom's bright, civilized, and humanitarian image in serving Islam and Muslims.
