The Crown Prince told the Iranian President: We will not allow our airspace to be used militarily

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a telephone call today from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which they discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in the sensitive regional situation in the region.
A firm Saudi message of reassurance
During the call, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince reaffirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s firm and principled stance of respecting the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He emphasized unequivocally that the Kingdom will not permit the use of its airspace or territory for any military actions targeting Iran, or for the execution of attacks by any party whatsoever, regardless of pretexts or objectives. These statements preempt any speculation regarding the potential use of Saudi airspace amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Context of relations since the Beijing Agreement
This contact comes in the context of a remarkable development in Saudi-Iranian relations since the signing of the historic agreement between the two countries in the Chinese capital, Beijing, in March 2023. That agreement established a new phase of diplomatic cooperation and the end of the estrangement, as the two sides have since focused on activating joint security and economic agreements, and strengthening mutual trust in a way that serves the interests of the two neighboring peoples.
The importance of the Saudi position for regional stability
The Crown Prince's affirmation carries profound strategic implications that extend beyond bilateral relations to encompass regional and international security. As a major regional power, the Kingdom is sending a clear message that its top priority is de-escalation and preventing the spread of conflict in the region. This stance aligns with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which requires a stable and secure regional environment for achieving sustainable economic development. Riyadh seeks to play the role of mediator and stabilizing force rather than engaging in military power struggles.
Discussion of the nuclear file and the internal situation
For his part, the Iranian President briefed His Royal Highness the Crown Prince on the latest developments in Iran's internal situation and the government's efforts in this regard. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the talks concerning the Iranian nuclear program, a matter of considerable international interest. President Pezeshkian expressed his deep gratitude to the Kingdom for its supportive stance on Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and commended the pivotal role played by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince in promoting security and peace in the region through dialogue and diplomacy.
