Names of 68 students representing Saudi Arabia in ISEF, TAISEF, and ITEX

In a move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and building a generation of scientists and future leaders, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, announced the final list of students nominated to represent the Kingdom at major international scientific events. The list includes 68 talented young men and women carefully selected to raise the Saudi flag at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2026) in the United States, the Taiwan International Science and Technology Fair (TAISF), and the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) in Malaysia.

The importance of the event and its national and international context

This announcement culminates concerted national efforts aligned with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which prioritizes human capital development and investment in young minds. Participation in these international exhibitions is more than just student competition; it represents a global platform to showcase Saudi Arabia's soft power in science and technology, and reinforces the Kingdom's position as a leading nation in nurturing talent worldwide. These participations are particularly significant given their intense competition; ISEF is considered the "World Cup of Science," bringing together the brightest young minds from over 70 countries.

A journey of a million miles begins with an idea: the details of the elimination rounds

The path to representing the Saudi national science and engineering team was not easy; it was the culmination of a long and arduous scientific journey that lasted a full year. This epic endeavor began with the widespread participation of 357,000 male and female students from across the Kingdom, who presented more than 34,000 scientific projects in 22 specialized fields. These students underwent a series of rigorous qualifying rounds, including six judging stages and 16 regional exhibitions, followed by four central exhibitions, culminating in the Creativity in Science and Engineering Exhibition, which showcased the top 200 projects. From these, 68 candidates were selected after intensive training camps at the Mishkat Interactive Center.

A history full of global achievements

The Kingdom has a distinguished record in these competitions, especially in the ISEF exhibition, in which it has participated since 2007. During these years, the Kingdom’s students have won 185 international awards, ranging from 124 major awards to 61 special awards, reflecting the quality of the educational and research outputs of the Mawhiba programs and the Ministry of Education.
