The Mauritanian president arrives in Medina to visit the Prophet's Mosque

His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and his accompanying delegation, arrived in Madinah today, on a visit aimed at honoring the Prophet’s Mosque, performing prayers therein, and greeting the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions (may God be pleased with them), amidst a high atmosphere of faith and spirituality.

Upon his arrival at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, His Excellency was received by the Deputy Governor of Madinah Region, Abdulmohsen bin Nayef bin Hamid, and the Director of the Royal Protocol Office in the region, Ibrahim bin Abdullah Barri, in addition to a number of civilian and military officials, where the usual official reception ceremony for the Kingdom’s senior guests took place.

This visit comes within the framework of the strong fraternal relations that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, relations characterized by deep historical, religious, and cultural ties. A visit to Madinah is a significant event for Muslim leaders and heads of state, given its profound spiritual significance. Leaders of Islamic countries, during their visits to the Kingdom, make a point of visiting Madinah to pray in the Prophet's Mosque and draw inspiration from the noble values of Islam in the vicinity of the Prophet Muhammad.

This visit also reflects the great appreciation that the Mauritanian leadership holds for the pioneering role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors. The Kingdom, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince – may God protect them – pays close attention to providing all means of comfort and tranquility for pilgrims and visitors through the massive expansion projects and advanced logistical services underway at the Prophet's Mosque and its surrounding area.

On the diplomatic front, Saudi-Mauritanian relations are witnessing remarkable development and continuous coordination on various issues of concern to the Arab and Islamic nations. Such visits are considered an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of affection and brotherhood between the two brotherly peoples and to reaffirm the unity of the Muslim world. The Mauritanian president is expected to spend time at the Prophet's Mosque, taking advantage of the excellent services provided by the relevant authorities in Medina to ensure the smooth flow of visitors and to provide a suitable atmosphere for worship and devotion.
