All eyes are on the Holy City of Mecca as the Municipality prepares to launch the third edition of the “Markaz Al-Balad Al-Amin” events, an event that has become a landmark on Mecca’s cultural and social landscape during the holy month of Ramadan. This edition aims to solidify Mecca’s position not only as the Qibla for Muslims, but also as a beacon of civilization and culture, combining the spirituality of the time with the sanctity of the place.
Reviving the Hijazi heritage with a modern spirit
The “Markaz” derives its name and concept from the rich Hijazi heritage, where it traditionally served as a space for social gatherings and conversations during Ramadan nights. In its third iteration, the Holy Capital Municipality is reimagining this traditional concept in a modern framework aligned with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, specifically the Quality of Life Program, to create a platform that blends authenticity and modernity, opening up broad horizons for cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange.
Under the slogan “Makkah inspires the world,” this year’s event seeks to present a civilizational model that reflects the city’s historical depth and its extended humanitarian message. The site has been prepared in “Sumu Suburb” on Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road linking Makkah and Jeddah, to receive visitors over 15 busy Ramadan nights.
Sustainable economic and developmental dimensions
The importance of the “Markaz Al-Balad Al-Amin” event extends beyond its cultural significance, serving as a vital economic driver for the region. Statistics reveal the remarkable success of previous editions, with economic activity exceeding 5 billion riyals, reflecting the purchasing power and investment opportunities the event offers. In this context, the current edition features a specialized market with seven pavilions showcasing luxury Saudi brands participating in Makkah for the first time, further supporting local content and national entrepreneurship.
The Secretary of the Holy Capital, Musaed Al-Dawood, affirmed that the center represents a practical translation of the concept of comprehensive development, as it works as a strategic platform that stimulates quality investment and creates a fertile environment for partnerships, noting that previous editions witnessed the signing of 50 quality agreements, which confirms the role of the event in driving the economic wheel.

The center is designed to offer a rich experience spread across six main zones, each with its own unique character that blends enjoyment and knowledge. The numbers have demonstrated the public's enthusiasm for this type of event, with digital platforms recording over 86 million interactions and the center welcoming more than 32,000 guests in its previous seasons. The project's CEO, Dhaifallah Al-Khazmari, explained that this year's edition comes with a deeper vision that focuses on people as the core of development, reinforcing the values of dialogue and cultural diversity.
