Faisal bin Farhan receives Al-Badawi to discuss joint Gulf action

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, at the Ministry headquarters. This meeting comes within the framework of ongoing consultations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the GCC Secretariat to strengthen regional cooperation.
Strengthening Gulf integration and interdependence
During the meeting, the progress of joint Gulf action was reviewed, and both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in various political, economic, and security fields. Emphasis was placed on the importance of advancing integration and cohesion among the six GCC states, in order to fulfill the aspirations of the Gulf leaders and their people for prosperity and stability, and in line with the ambitious development visions underway in the region.
The Kingdom's pivotal role in the Gulf Cooperation Council system
This meeting reflects the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) since its inception. As the elder sister and a strategic depth for the region, the Kingdom is always keen to unify the Gulf ranks and coordinate positions on regional and international issues. These periodic meetings between the Foreign Minister and the Secretary-General are a cornerstone for following up on the implementation of decisions issued by the GCC summits and ensuring the progress of integration projects, whether related to the Customs Union, the Gulf Common Market, or security and political coordination.
