Mecca weather today: Rain and active winds in these provinces

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued the Makkah region by unstable weather conditions. The report included forecasts of light rain expected between midday and evening, urging residents and highway users to exercise caution.
Weather details and affected areas
According to the center's report, the rainy weather will begin at noon and continue until 8:00 PM. The alert is not limited to the city of Mecca, but also includes several governorates and centers within the region, namely: Al-Lith, Adham, Maysan, Taif, Al-Ardiyat, and Al-Qunfudhah . The rainfall will be accompanied by a noticeable increase in surface winds, which may stir up dust and sand in some open areas, in addition to reducing horizontal visibility and the possibility of scattered thunderstorms.
The geographical and climatic context of the Makkah region
These forecasts are particularly important given the diverse geography of the Makkah region. While governorates like Taif and Maysan are mountainous, part of the Sarawat Mountains range, which facilitates cloud formation and rainfall, governorates like Al-Lith and Al-Qunfudhah lie along the Red Sea coast, making them susceptible to varying weather patterns influenced by high humidity. These fluctuations are a characteristic feature of the region's climate during the transitional periods between seasons, when humid air currents from the Red Sea interact with the area's topography.
The importance of early warnings and public safety
The alerts issued by the National Center for Meteorology play a pivotal role in enhancing public safety, especially in a vital area like Mecca, which experiences heavy traffic from pilgrims and visitors, in addition to daily commutes between provinces. These proactive reports contribute to raising the readiness of relevant authorities, such as Civil Defense and Traffic Police, to deal with any water accumulations or accidents that may result from vehicles skidding or reduced visibility. Experts always advise staying away from floodplains and valleys, especially in mountainous and rugged areas, during such weather conditions.
Weather forecast for the rest of the Kingdom
Today's weather conditions are not limited to Mecca. The meteorological report indicates that there is still a chance of thunderstorms and rain, accompanied by active winds, in parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Medina . In a related matter, the center warned of the possibility of fog forming during the early morning and late night hours in parts of the highlands of these regions, as well as parts of the Eastern Province, the Northern Borders, Hail, Al-Jawf, and Tabuk, requiring extra caution while driving.
