The city's health complex allocates a kidney dialysis unit to serve pilgrims

In a pioneering step reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to providing the highest levels of medical care to pilgrims, the Madinah Health Cluster announced the allocation of a fully equipped dialysis unit at the Kidney Center in King Fahd Hospital. This strategic initiative aims to enhance the readiness of healthcare services provided to pilgrims during the 1447 AH Hajj season, ensuring a safe and stable healthcare environment for patients requiring continuous medical care while performing their rituals.
This vital step aims to ensure the continuity of high-quality medical care for pilgrims with kidney disease, meeting all their health needs throughout their stay in Madinah. The center operates at a daily capacity of up to 25 dialysis sessions, supported by 13 advanced dialysis machines, guaranteeing a smooth service and preventing any delays that could affect the pilgrim's health.
A long history of providing healthcare to pilgrims
Historically, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has placed great importance on the health of pilgrims since its founding. With the development of the healthcare sector, managing medical crowds and providing specialized services, such as dialysis, have become integral parts of annual emergency and care plans. The past decades have witnessed significant advancements in equipping hospitals and health centers in Mecca and Medina with the latest medical technologies, enabling them to handle millions of visitors simultaneously. This reflects the deep, accumulated experience of Saudi medical professionals in managing major religious seasons.
Strategic dimensions of the City Health Cluster's efforts
The impact of the initiatives launched by the Madinah Health Cluster extends beyond the local level to encompass significant regional and international dimensions. Locally, these facilities contribute to alleviating the burden on emergency departments and distributing cases systematically and thoughtfully. Regionally and internationally, providing such complex specialized services free of charge or with high efficiency to pilgrims from around the world reinforces the Kingdom's position as a leading global model in community medicine and health crisis management. This commitment sends a reassuring message to millions of Muslims worldwide that their health conditions will not prevent them from performing the Hajj pilgrimage.
Safe and effective emergency care
The medical administration also revealed the full readiness of the hemodialysis unit at King Fahd Hospital to receive urgent and emergency cases around the clock, ensuring rapid medical intervention when needed. The health cluster explained that the services provided to pilgrims include multiple pathways, such as hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, in addition to close monitoring of kidney transplant patients, thus providing comprehensive coverage for various medical conditions.
Officials explained that these tremendous efforts are part of a comprehensive healthcare system aimed at providing safe and effective care, in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to visitors of the Two Holy Mosques. Harnessing all available human and technological resources to serve pilgrims embodies the highest ideals of humanitarian and medical care, of which the Kingdom is proud.
