The city's governor inaugurates the "Hijra in the Footsteps of the Prophet" exhibition next to the Quba Mosque

In a move reflecting the great interest in highlighting Islamic heritage and promoting the cultural dimension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Madinah and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Madinah Development Authority, inaugurated the “Migration in the Footsteps of the Prophet, peace be upon him” exhibition. The opening ceremony was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah, and His Excellency Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Entertainment Authority, at the exhibition's prime location next to Quba Mosque, the first mosque founded on piety.
The importance of the event and the significance of the place
This exhibition is of exceptional importance not only for its rich content but also for its strategic location next to the Quba Mosque, the first stop for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) upon his arrival in Medina after migrating from Mecca. This location connects the present with the past in a geographical setting steeped in history, enhancing the spiritual and cultural experience for visitors. The Prophet's migration (Hijra) was a pivotal event that changed the course of history and laid the foundations for the establishment of the Islamic state, and this is what the exhibition seeks to depict in a style that blends authenticity and modernity.
Strategic partnership to enhance the cultural experience
This global event is being organized through a fruitful collaboration between the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), an initiative of Saudi Aramco, the Madinah Region Development Authority, and Milaf International, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund. This collaboration aims to deliver a high-caliber cultural product that aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to enrich the experience of visitors, pilgrims, and Umrah performers, and to enhance the Kingdom's position as a leading tourist and cultural destination in the Islamic world.
Exhibition contents: An interactive journey through time
The exhibition is distinguished by its presentation of an accurate historical account of the Prophet's migration journey, which spanned 400 kilometers and lasted 8 days, through:
- 14 interactive stations: covering all stages of migration in an engaging way.
- Rare art collections: The exhibition includes 53 distinctive pieces of art.
- Global participation: More than 70 artists and creators from 20 different countries contributed to the content.
- Modern technologies: Employing virtual reality technologies, and showing a special documentary film that was previously shown at the Islamic Arts Biennale.
The exhibition's impact on the cultural scene
Engineer Bandar Al-Qahtani, CEO of Milaf Company, affirmed that this exhibition represents a model of national integration in presenting projects befitting the status of Madinah. The exhibition is expected to contribute to enhancing the knowledge of new generations about the details of the Prophet's biography, in addition to being a tourist attraction that enriches the region's cultural landscape, offering lessons in planning, patience, and reliance on God as embodied in the great migration journey.
