Prince Nayef Quran Memorization Competition: Prizes of 3 Million Riyals and Registration Requirements

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, the Ministry of Interior announced the launch of Prince Nayef Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran. This blessed initiative targets all male and female members of the security sectors across the Kingdom, with substantial cash prizes totaling 3 million riyals, distributed across five categories corresponding to different levels of memorization.

A great legacy in serving the Book of God and intellectual security

This competition is an extension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's long-standing approach, established since its founding by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud (may God have mercy on him), to the care of the Holy Quran, its printing, publication, and teaching. The Prince Naif Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran special significance as it bears the name of His Royal Highness Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz (may God have mercy on him), the statesman who led the Ministry of Interior for decades and whose contributions to serving Islam are widely recognized, most notably his establishment of the Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud International Prize for the Prophetic Sunnah and Contemporary Islamic Studies.

The importance of this event extends beyond mere competition; it also serves to solidify the concept of "intellectual security" among security personnel. Connecting the nation's protectors to the Holy Quran contributes to strengthening moral values, ethical conduct, and moderation—the fundamental pillars upon which the Kingdom's security doctrine rests. This approach is an integral part of the vision of the wise leadership, represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman—may God protect them—in building a vibrant society firmly rooted in its Islamic values.

Branches of the Prince Naif Quran Memorization Competition and the Value of the Prizes

The competition, which begins tomorrow, Sunday, aims to encourage members of the security sectors to master the recitation and memorization of the Quran. The competition has been divided into five main categories with a total prize pool of 3,000,000 riyals, the details of which are as follows:

  • The first category: Memorizing the entire Holy Quran, and the value of its prizes amounts to 1,200,000 riyals.
  • The second category: Memorizing 15 parts, and its prizes amount to 800,000 riyals.
  • The third category: Memorizing 10 parts, and its prizes amount to 500,000 riyals.
  • The fourth category: Memorizing 5 parts, and its prizes amount to 300,000 riyals.
  • The fifth category: Memorizing two parts, and its prizes amount to 200,000 riyals.

Participation requirements and nomination criteria

The organizing committee has set a number of requirements to ensure the quality of the competition. Participants must be affiliated with the Ministry of Interior (officers, enlisted personnel, civilian employees, or students), whether currently employed or enrolled in studies. Applicants must also pass the initial stage with a minimum score of 85%.

Regarding the general protocol of the competition, the Ministry requires military participants to wear their official uniforms during the competition and to adhere to the category specified on their nomination form. It is preferable for the memorization to be continuous; if it is done in separate sections, it should not exceed three parts of the Quran, and the memorization should begin at the beginning of the section and end at its conclusion, to ensure accurate and fair evaluation among the competitors.
