Jazan's waterfronts welcome visitors during the mid-year break

The Jazan region, known as the "Pearl of the South," is one of the most prominent winter tourist destinations in Saudi Arabia, distinguished by its mild climate and enchanting natural beauty, which combines expansive coastlines with verdant mountains. With the arrival of the mid-year school break, the region has become a magnet for visitors and tourists from within the Kingdom and abroad, seeking warmth and relaxation.

In this context, Jazan’s waterfronts and public parks are witnessing a large influx of families and individuals to enjoy the picturesque winter atmosphere and various recreational activities, which has established the region’s position as a major tourist destination during official seasons and holidays.

Intensive municipal preparations and record numbers

The Secretary of the Jazan Region, Engineer Yahya Al-Ghazwani, explained that the Secretariat and its affiliated municipalities worked according to a comprehensive strategic plan to ensure the readiness of public facilities to receive these large numbers of visitors. The preparations included:

• 22 waterfronts equipped with state-of-the-art services.
• 236 public parks distributed across various governorates.
• 20 tourist overlooks offering breathtaking panoramic views.
• 203 sports fields and 214 walking paths to promote public health.

This strong infrastructure did not come out of nowhere, but is the result of continuous efforts to make the region a major outlet for residents and visitors, and to enhance its position on the national tourism map.

Enhancing quality of life and the economic dimension

The importance of this tourism movement extends beyond mere entertainment, encompassing developmental and economic dimensions that align with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Quality of Life Program. Al-Ghazwani noted that the diversity of public facilities has directly contributed to increased community participation in physical activities, such as walking and cycling on designated paths, as well as water sports like swimming and beach volleyball.

This turnout also has a positive impact on the economic activity in the region, through the revitalization of the restaurant, cafe and commercial kiosk sector provided by the municipality in the recreational sites, creating investment and job opportunities for the people of the region.

Integrated services and a safe environment

The Jazan Municipality has ensured the provision of dedicated family spaces that guarantee privacy and comfort, along with children's play areas that adhere to safety standards for all age groups. To ensure the sustainability of these services, the municipality has intensified its field efforts through:

• Regular maintenance of public facilities, roads and lighting.
• Intensifying cleaning operations in squares, public spaces, and neighborhoods around the clock.
• Strict oversight of commercial establishments to ensure the quality of services provided.
• Addressing the manifestations of visual distortion to improve the urban landscape.

The Secretariat concluded its call for everyone to cooperate in preserving public property and to report any observations or violations via the unified reporting number (940), stressing that community awareness is a key partner in the success of service and tourism plans.
