Gulf Security Exercise 4 kicks off in Qatar with Saudi participation

The joint tactical exercise for security agencies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, “Arabian Gulf Security 4,” kicked off today in Qatar. This represents a new link in the chain of close security cooperation between the GCC countries, amidst active and distinguished participation from the Saudi security forces.

High-level official attendance

The launch ceremony was attended by prominent security figures, including the Undersecretary of the Qatari Ministry of Interior, Abdullah bin Khalaf bin Hattab Al-Kaabi, and the Assistant Secretary-General for Security Affairs at the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Brigadier General Hamad Ajlan Al-Amimi. Also present from the Saudi side were the Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Saudi participating force, Major General Awad bin Mashouh Al-Anzi, in addition to the heads of the exercise's supreme committees from various GCC countries, and a number of security leaders and officers.

Saudi participation and exercise objectives

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is participating in this important security event with a specialized security force comprising personnel from the Ministry of Interior and the Presidency of State Security. This participation aims to strengthen security cooperation, develop joint coordination mechanisms, and exchange field and theoretical expertise among the internal security sectors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The exercise also includes the participation of specialized security units from the United States, adding an international dimension and contributing to exposure to the latest global practices in the security field.

Context of the exercise and its strategic importance

The “Arabian Gulf Security 4” exercise is a continuation of the three previous iterations held in different Gulf states, in implementation of the decisions of the Interior Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. These exercises are of paramount importance given the evolving security challenges facing the region and the world. They are not merely routine drills, but rather a clear message affirming the shared destiny and security interdependence among the Gulf states, and that the security of the GCC countries is indivisible.

Raising preparedness to face risks

The exercise focuses on enhancing security preparedness to deal with various potential scenarios, including counterterrorism, protecting vital installations, and managing emergencies. Those conducting the exercise aim to unify security concepts and refine the field skills of participating forces to ensure a rapid and effective response to any threats that may affect the region's stability, reflecting the GCC countries' commitment to providing a safe and stable environment for their people.
